Condition: This Edwards E2M40 is a “refurbished” vacuumpump. Based in a casual inspection then pump looks as good as something likethis need to look, it has a few minor cosmetic scuff/marks and scratches on theexterior but no apparent damage or broken parts as seen in the photos, nomanuals, paperwork or accessories.
This is alarge 2-Stage, Refurbished Vacuum Pump:Edwards Mod. E2M40 Direct-Drive,Dual Stage, Rotary-Vane Vacuum Pump, with 2 HP Motor. Runs on 208-230 or460 Volts 3-phase AC and draws 6.6 or 3.3 Amps. Edwardshas been making this pump for a long time; solid design.
E2M40 pumps are two-stage oil-sealed, high-vacuum pumpsdesigned for reliable, long-term operation in both laboratory and industrialenvironments. A single-phase motor or a four-pole three-phase motor providesdirect-drive through a flexible coupling. The pumps are free-standing mountedon steel runners.
The E2M (two-stage) pumps have an additional low-vacuumrotor and stator assembly. Lubrication is provided by a sliding vane oil pump.Oil is drawn into the pump through a wire mesh strainer. The oil is pumped to aspring-loaded distributor valve. The distributor valve directs alightly-pressurised supply of oil to the main vacuum-pump and by-passes theexcess back to the oil reservoir.
Some of the excess oil is re-directed through a largearea, fine-pore filter and some through a relief-valve. When you switch off anE2M40 pump with the gas ballast control closed, the spring loaded distributorvalve provides oil and air suckback protection.
