Up for offer is a classic piece of American-made electrical test equipment. The model 8AK4A1AA1 clamp-on ammeter measures AC amps with scales of 0-10, 0-30, 10-100, 0-300, 100-800 amperes. The instrument also measures AC voltage with scales of 0-150, 0-300, 0-750 volts. AC voltage is measured by using two (2) approx. 42 inch long test leads with rubber-booted alligator clips on the end. The rubber insulation on the leads is becoming stiff, but not yet cracking, and they are still serviceable. I checked both the ammeter and voltmeter functions, and found that the meter works very well across all eight scales, but I cannot warrant the accuracy. The meter does have a calibration adjustment screw. The instrument is in excellent cosmetic condition, with only scratches and small nicks, but no fractures. The leather used to construct the case is in good shape, but most of the thread used in stitching the seams has deteriorated to the point that the case needs restoration. The seventh photo shows just one portion of the seams that have opened up. To give you a better idea of how much stitching has separated, I measured approx. 20 inches of open seam on the case, while the total length of the seams comes to approx. 39 inches. The case could be restored with the proper thread and leather working needles.
