The center knob on the concentric horizontal voltage sweep control, located on the lower left side of the curve tracer, has been destroyed due to age. See the lower left side attached photo.This section of the control is used to control the volts/division of the display and tocontrol the maximum voltage applied to the collector of the device under test. As such, the user should monitor the collector sweep voltage with an oscilloscope to verify that it is correct before testing. This section of the switch is fairly hard to rotate since this section of the knob is mostly broken. This switch can be rotated from 0.1v/division to 100v/division in a 1,2,5 sequence.The test photo shows a small signal npn transistor tested at a collector current of 2mA/division, a collector voltage of 2V/division, and with a base current of 100uA per step. The other trace is just used to check the linearity of the curve tracer with a 1k ohm resistive load. The tests are only used to verify the the curve tracer is operational and not to indicate the the unit meets Telequipment Corporation specifications.
The curve tracer will only be shipped with its specialty power cord and a photo copy of its manual. No other components, test leads, or test equipment, used to test the curve tracer are included in this listing.
This curve tracer performs about the same function as the Tektronix 575 Curve Tracer. The CT-71 Curve Tracer advantages are that it is transistorized, has a much smaller footprint, only weighs about one-third, works up to 1000 volts peak, and supplies much larger gate drive voltage for testing MOSFETS. The CT-71 collector current is limited to 2 amperes.
