VINTAGE Wood METAL LATHE Motor Mount Countershaft Jack Shaft Bracket Support:
$135.00
See photos. This came with a 1906 wood lathe I bought several decades ago. This jack shaft, as I was told, was mounted to the ceiling of the shop, with a 3-step flat belt pulley between the gimbaled bearing blocks that mated with the 3-step flat belt pulley on my lathe. The jack shaft itself was driven by a larger central shaft next to the ceiling. The 1/2-in. shaft mounted to the side of each bearing block runs freely between the blocks, so the operator can shift the flat belt from one step to another with the 2 belt guides (shown mounted on the 1/2-in. shaft between the blocks) usinga handle mounted on the ball-shaped end piece. The oval things are grease/oil cups to catch the bearing lubricant drips. They\'re attached to the blocks with threaded rods - one of the threaded rods is broken, but both are (thanks to old lube) free and will be taken out for shipping. The bearings are bored for a 1-in. shaft. I haven\'t inspected the bearings, but assume they\'re Babbitt. It\'s rusty and grimy but cleans easily with a wire brush. Shipped via USPS Priority large flat rate box(es). The 1/2-in. shaft will be trimmed to 24 in. to avoid an additional shipping box. If you can pick it up (outside of Louisville, KY) I can discount my shipping cost. Ask questions, I\'ll answer as best I can.
