She most likely thought BIS meant "Business".

Just called up and added this to my account. Not confirmed yet, but I'm under the impression it's for BIS only, no BES. This page seems like Cingular considers BIS and BES to be different. http://cingular.com/midtolarge/blackberry

I confirmed we have the feature in our system. Im in the PacBell market but it should be updated in OPUS and Telegence nationwide (if you work for us you know what im talking about)

SOC Code - BIA1

Description - BBRYBISUNL

This leads me to believe that this feature is only available for BIS consumers as BIS is mentioned in the SOC description. BES ppl dont give up yet, this is still not confirmed.

well according to cingular's press release, this is only for BIS, BES will still be at 44.99 :(
"The new consumer-friendly BlackBerry Personal Plan from Cingular will be available beginning Monday, June 12, in Cingular retail stores across the U.S. and includes unlimited e-mail and Web browsing for $29.99 per month, with a qualified voice plan. The BlackBerry 7130c is also available for enterprise customers using BlackBerry Enterprise ServerTM with service at $44.99 per month with a qualified voice plan and unlimited data usage or for $49.99 a month as a data only option."

Wirelessly posted (BlackBerry 8700c: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows NT 5.0) BlackBerry8700/4.1.0 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/102)

It says that it will be available with a "qualified" voice plan. Which plans qualify you for the discout? I've got the $39.99, 450 anytime and 5000 night and weekend plan. Will I be qualified to get the $29.99 BB unlimited plan?

Yes, that's what I have... and I switched to the 29.99 BIS today.

The 7130c isnt available in the PacBell market yet, or the website. I did a marketwide search for it today using its SKU. Even though it has the half-assed quert keyboard im always excited to see a new device!

I think is available for pretty much any type of voice plan.
My plan was a limited time offer without Rollover and without unlimited NW and it still qualified.
just my .02

Cingular's BIS 2.0 available already?

I just noticed that the web client login screen is completely different.
But, once I login, I see no differences..
What are the steps to change to BIS 2.0?
Am I missing something?

Texas_Traveler 06-11-2006 06:16 AM

I noticed the web client login screen is different too.

Berry One 06-11-2006 08:42 AM

Yes, Cingular's BIS 2.0 now available.

BUT WHEN i login, i still get the old web client...
any steps need to be taken?

jonlevine 06-11-2006 09:21 AM

I just called and spoke to a CSR who wasn't aware of the new plan, but after searching, he found it and added it to my account. He didn't even ask me what my voice plan was or mention it in any way. Woo-hoo! Now I just have to figure out what I'm going to do with the extra $180 I'll have at the end of the year!

Wait few days. Upgrade, when offered, is much easier process, literally click of the button. There had been talks that you may not be able to keep your login name if you ask them remove your account, and you have to add it again.

It took Verizon few days before they offered upgrade to everyone. Must be standard procedure with carrier, or RIM.
