Come on Sprint what more are you waiting for. I guess since Sprint now has the 7130 that was enough of a new release for them. DAMIT

I don't know WTF Sprint/Nextel's problem is, but I am VERY close to jumping ship for Cingular. If it wasn't for the possiblity of EV-DO service (as opposed to EDGE), I would have already left. I can tell you I am not going to wait much longer.

jungleland 08-09-2006 12:30 PM

I still have a woody:smile:  (y)

Although, I'd be remiss if I did not mention the fact that the an FCC approval for this device has yet to be given. Rarely do the FCC approvals only come a few weeks before the release date...So, could this be bad info? We shall see..

Ya know I left Sprint for Cingular once when the 72XX couldnt have been had on Sprint but as soon as Sprint had it I RAN back. Cingular for me where I live just was the worst. And that is shocking since I only live 25 miles from NYC. I never was able to get service in my house I had to walk down the block LOL ! Ok this is off topic at this point. Sorry!

Anyway I am upgrading to the 87XX on Sprint no matter what the cost :)

I hear Sprint is Supposedly to get in October BUT its anyones guess....this is really the tip though I can get the 8700 with Cingular for fairly cheap. Mannn where is Sprint hopefully with the Q4 releases comes the 8700 but it is probably only a dream.

InPocket 08-10-2006 06:49 AM

jungle brought up a very valid point... where is the FCC aproval?

2.5 weeks until launch with nothing so much as a picture!?

How can we have all, and I mean ALL, the specs for the blackberry pearl yet the 8703 is still a ghost?

It does sound a little fishy now...

Yes, often I bring up valid points here, yet they are overlooked....

I would like to hear someone with some clout respond to that..

Well the 8700 for Cingular got FCC approval on 11/02/2005 which was only a week or 2 before it was released (I think). August 28th is still almost 3 weeks away. We shall see.....

junior1790 08-10-2006 02:54 PM

Wirelessly posted (BlackBerry8700/4.1.0 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/102)

We also have to think in terms of it is no longer a "new" device, to all of patiently waiting it will be, but overall it will probably be a pretty soft release without tons of hype, imho.

essay182 08-12-2006 06:04 PM

I REALLY hope that the 8703 really does come out on the 28th because I've been wanting to upgrade my 7250 to EVDO for a while, but I'd rather just buy an 8703. Plus the 8700 series is sexy!

adamlau 08-12-2006 06:21 PM

Awesome...I am already recommending it to my 7130e buddies...

Similar story, left Sprint's 7250 for an 8700c. Happy with the device, but VERY dissatisfied with the service. My employees immediately noticed the change siting very poor voice quality on all calls from their end. If Sprint provides an 8703, or better yet and 8100, I'll be back as well.

This is interesting. The 8703 is set to be released in nov for sprint. I've seen pics and if I remember correctly, it looks like the 8700g but black.

Never heard anything about verizon, I though they would get it after sprint.

dpeters11 08-14-2006 10:05 AM

Considering who they sometimes have working at the stores this might not mean much, but one of my users was going to pick up a 7250 when he was in NYC. The rep at the store told him that they were not stocking it anymore in preparation for a new device.

Drumberry 08-14-2006 03:33 PM

Wow I still can't believe how much of a ghost this thing is, what is it now, about 2 weeks until supposable launch and no one even has any official info or pics, best kept secret here. Usually verizon will have some page for upcoming phones, but not on this one, yet.

essay182 08-14-2006 03:42 PM

Soemone needs to dig up some dirt on the thing! I really hope it looks like it does in the computerized pics that are on the net, cause it looks pretty sweet in all black like that!

I just noticed that no one has said anything about pricing. Does anyone have any idea how much the phone will cost, with and without a contract? I'm out of contract and on a month to month basis right now, so if I can get a deal by signing another 1 year contract then that's what I'll do.

my guess, if this thing actually exists...

499.99 w/o contract = 516 toal

399.99 w/ 2 year = 422.total

Relax - give it through the 28th or so. Remember, the picture that Essay posted above is a photoshop job - don't even have the M and N keys in the right place. I think 3 more weeks isn't too much to ask.

this from the person with a cingy 8700...
I almost threw my xv6700 out the window 2 days ago, but realized I would have nothing if I did so. So for those like me, this 8703, if it exists, is a godsend

You should be awarded a trophy.
The fact that you didn't jump ship & get an 8700 from cingular/tmo is impressive, at least that's how I feel about my situation.
I'm still w/ Verizon, didn't buy a Cingular 8700 even though I had it in my hands at a Cingular store, even went to a T-mobile and looked, but resisted.
(Nothing against Cingular/Tmo, it's just that in my work areas only Verizon/Nextel have great reception while GSM has spotty signal). I had bought a gsm phone awhile ago and many people complained that I sound "underwater" with a "wooshing sound" behind my voice. Nobody wanted to talk to me until I went to Verizon or Nxtl. Now life is good, except the fact that we don't yet have the 8700.
So, in review, feel proud that you have stuck it out w/ the xv6700, my fellow VZN user!
btw, I was a pocket pc user for many years, when ever I fired the pocket pc up I had to cross my fingers , my blood pressure would raise from worrying every time I had to retrieve info from my poctet pc, due to it's failure rate. That's why I appreciate the stability of BlackBerry!!! (understated)

Someone reported on HowardForums that the 8703 will be released on October 28th. Nothing is confirmed, but I haven't see any posting on the FCC site, so August 28th may be very optimistic.

ODDS! 25 to 1...I am saying nicely, that there is no shot that this is coming out on August 28th, I will say the BOY GENIUS is wrong here and now.

junior1790 08-17-2006 07:41 PM

i dont know that genius put out a date??

Dinkoh 08-17-2006 08:41 PM

Verizon and Blackberry plan

Verizon mentions that it will download the first 2kb of your email, then you can request the rest of it later. Why is that? Does anyone find this to be a problem compared to Cingular/T-Mob plans? Just wondering. Anxiously awaiting the 8703 on Verizon. I hope August is the true date, but awfully soon for news that just came out.

Drumberry 08-17-2006 09:25 PM

I'm anxiousely waiting also, i hope this date is true, otherwise it's either a 7250 for me, or waiting for a motorola KRZR

thought 08-17-2006 11:11 PM

As to release date rumors and their likely validity:
We have roc a fella stating on HoFo that the date is Aug 28:
"Coming to verizon 8/28"

We have BoyGenius confirming roc's info:
"he is definitely right about the release date as confirmed to me by an independant source."

We have someone calling himself "luxurynick" on his very first post on HoFo stating the release date as Oct 28...but he stated this yesterday 8/16 and promised "sources and official pictures" tomorrow, which would have been 8/17.

So who to believe? We have 2 extremely credible sources with proven track records, vs one new source who has already missed the deadline he set for himself in posting those "official pictures." As for me, I'll stick with roc and BG...

xxhiyanxx 08-18-2006 10:52 AM

ThatGuy 08-18-2006 11:42 AM

Well either way, somethings brewing over there at VZW, if the salespeople know something coming out soon, it can't be too far off, here's a chat i had with the agent:

"A Verizon Wireless online pre-sales specialist has joined the chat. You are now chatting with Dee
You: I would like to know if Verizon Wireless will be introducing a new Blackberry in the coming weeks?
Dee: Hi\
Dee: I apologize for the wait.
Dee: There is going to be a new one coming out soon but I do not have access to the release date.
Dee: If you keep watching the website more detail will come in the following weeks.
You: Can you at least give me range or something, the thing is I need to buy a Blackberry soon and I do not want to go ahead and buy a 7250 if a new model will be coming out right after I buy the 7250.
Dee: Unfortunately I do not have that information and it has not been released to our company yet.

i have the tmo 8700g now that i just bought (can return it by the time the verizon comes out if its really coming on the 28th) and a razr from verizon.. i am tempted to maybe get rid of the tmo account and just use the 8703 for phone and email...

hmmmm what to do... the only reason id do that is because of the EVDO speeds.. i have used a 700p for a while and the speed was fast, but i can't tell how much faster it really is than EDGE..

any advice/thoughts?

Sure you can. You'll probably find the Zen and Today themes on the new BB.

Yes, you can change the theme. I just can't believe VZW puts something that crappy on a nice device.

njguy 08-19-2006 11:17 AM

miamirain-
perhaps you can upload some better pics when you get a chance?

I dont understand something, why is it that nobody knows anything about this phone at VZW or in the stores!!!
Does anyone actually have it in the stopres yet? Miami rain, how'd you get it.

UH8ME 08-19-2006 11:19 AM

kmccarthy 08-19-2006 11:35 AM

That looks just like an 8700g. But when I saw the them, that disporved my theory. How did you get it?

(hi guys... new here) I am waiting for the specs on this beauty. I love my 7520 but an upgrade is welcome.

serrano_yejo 08-19-2006 01:06 PM

Who provides a better BB support... V or Sprint?

essay182 08-19-2006 06:13 PM

So miamirain, is the release date Aug 28th or are we all crazy?
