T-Mobile / 8800
Does anyone know when T-Mobile will come out with the 8800?
|
Nobody knows for sure.... This has been beaten to death already several times.... Many of us T-Mo'ers are waiting for it... :)
|
It's all rumor and speculation.

Never - never - The devil made me say it.

Last thing I heard was 2 months after the Cingular release. The specs of the T-Mobile 8800 have been bandied about but it looks like it will have WiFi but no camera.
Personally, I'm holding out for the updated version to hit the streets (6 months?) with both WiFi and a camera that takes movie clips as well as still photos. |
The T-Mobile insiders over on HoFo say that RIM came the other day and laid out it's the standard 90-day exclusivity lockin for Cingular right now, so nothing for at least that long.

And I've heard otherwise.
The clock hasn't started ticking yet. |

I've heard that they are still in negotiations and have no date yet for the 8800...

I have heard from a dealer manager at RIM, no exculsive period, but no release date for Tmo

Okay, I just got off from work at 5:00pm and rushed to the T-Mobile store in the mall because I wanted to get the Nokia 5300 for my sister. Well, when I get there the rep tells me that they are all sold out of the black, but still had the lilac-colored one. I asked if she could show me what it looks like because they didn't have the lilac out on display. She went to the back room and came back with a dummy phone, but I really wasn't impressed especially since I already had my heart set on getting the black one for my sister. So, I thanked her for showing me, but the phone she had in her other hand caught my eye. I asked her what kind of phone it was and she said it's the Blackberry Pearl. I told her that I never knew it was so thin. (Believe it or not, this was the first time I've seen the Pearl in person) Okay, now here's what got me excited. I told her that I already have the 8700 and I was about to leave it at that, but then she went on to say, "Oh, yeah. We have a new version of that one coming out and it's thinner and has a camera." My reaction was, "Oh really? When's that coming out?" (acting like I didn't know about the 8800) and her reply was, "at the end of the month". After that, I just thanked her and left.
So, I didn't get the black Nokia 5300, but I also didn't leave too disappointed. I wasn't expecting to even get any info about the Blackberry or even had any intention of asking about it when I got to the store. I know everyone's hearing different things and there is no definite date. But remember a couple weeks ago when the T-Mobile reps didn't know about the 8800 coming to T-Mobile? Well, I guess it just gets better with time. |
The 8800 doesn't have a camera. I personally don't feel that employees at kiosks in the mall, on Sunday night, know anything about new BlackBerrys.
|
From my experience, don't believe a *single* word a T-Mo rep at a store tell you.... But that's just my .02 on the matter :)
|
Heh I've heard march or april it depends on whao you talk to. Some people just care about making the sale an processining ect then you run across the enthusiests dealers.
|
I have a RIM Eval 8800 with T-Mobile software on it and it DOES NOT have a camera or WiFi that I can find.
Read into that what you will. |
I have heard from my Astrological advisor that TMO will get a new Blackberry again as soon as man lands on mars!
|
So I had the 8700 for 11 months (the first day it came out in April 06 for Tmobile), then just bought the Pearl last week. Initially, I bought it thinking I'll return it before the 14 day refund/return policy. Well, I really like the Pearl so far. The camera (with a nice flash than others) is 1280x1024 resolution is a nice feature. The suretype keyboard isn't that bad. I guess I'll hold on to this until April (when I suspect 8800 will be released) and get the 8800 then.
How much is the 8700 going for? I want to sell it. |
