Error when trying to dial certain numbers, HELP

Whenever I try to dial a number starting with a 6, when i hit the second number I get this error:

Uncaught exception:
java.lang.ClassCastException

Does anyone have any idea what on earth this means? I'm having this problem plus the phantom SMS on the home screen and they're both getting really old. Hard resets and battery pulls don't do anything to fix these two problems.

This is a T-Mobile branded 8800 on T-Mobile service on a BES. Is there a way to re-install the OS that would fix this? If I were to do that, what are the chances it would fix the problem? I assume I'd have to then re-install all programs and re-activate the BES correct?

Thanks!

That sounds like a major PITA.

Yes, you can reload the wipe and reload the OS following these instructions:

Good luck.

If I do that, I will lose everything and have to reload it all correct (programs, saved e-mail's BES activation, etc)?

Back it up first.

I just tried what you said you were doing.. I dialed 6548 and hit send with no problems.
