8830 (WE) + google maps
Hey guys,
I'm looking for help trying to figure out why my BB 8830 world edition can't find "My location" in google maps. The maps display fine, and i can get directions to places but it cannot find my location when i ask it to I went to options-> advanced options->GPS it said GPS data source = none and i cannot change that as there are no options. I'm using google maps version 2.2.0 if that means anything. I'm on carrier Vodafone IE in Ireland on a BES server. Anybody any ideas? Thanks |
The 8830 requires a cdma signal for the built in gps to work. Where did you get the 8830 and what carrier is branded on it?
|
Got it while I was in the states. It has sprint written on the bottom of it which i assume was the original carrier before I put the vodafone sim card in it...
|
When I was in the Czech Republic earlier this year with my Verizon 8830 with a Verizon/Vodafone SIM card Googlemaps did not work. I don't know if GoogleMaps works with GSM in Europe. It also did not work in Amsterdam while in the airport.

It's weire bacause my friend has a BB and the GPS didn't work here and then he went to the states and it worked fine and when he came back it worked fine here as well.
So i figured there must be some sort of activation or some kind of settings that have to be set for it to work over here..... |
Upgrade to Sprint's latest software for the device and your problem's should be solved.
