8520 Stuck

Well the usual BB problem.
My sister owned the original 8520, it was messing up so got sent a new one from tmo. then bought a new phone. my mom's phone broke so im trying to use the 8520.
When i got the phone, the original battery is swelled in the middle and i believe wont hold a charge.
i bought an extended battery on ebay. 3.7v 2400mAh Li-Ion
Anyway.. original battery on the charger is red light then battery symbol with lighting bolt sign. no movement.
the extended battery will do the red light, then show blackberry, loading bar, little bit, turns to empty battery with red X on it. then it stops loading at around 60%.
I've let it sit for over an hour. i've left the battery out for over 40mins.
i've tried BB DM to "update" but stuck at "jvm". tried JL, but i do not believbe it is wiping. i had to use v1.9.3 because im using winblows 7 64bit.
i did set it to xp sp2.
I will take any help possible.
Thank you in advance.

P.s. i am going to the mall tomorrow and maybe the tmo store for their help. but i will try and buy an OEM battery to compare.

So, I gather you don't know if the BlackBerry was working at some point while it was in your control. True?

I concur. You need to try a battery that you know is good. Go from there.

Sounds to me like the device is damaged beyond repair.

@aiharkness; no i have no clue if it even worked before i got it. and my sister says since she got it from Tmo she never used it. -.- greattttt. lol i was under the impression it worked before.

i am leaving right now to the mall. just got home from work. first gonna hit tmo and see what they say. maybe the usual bs "oh we dont carry that phone anymore. and because of that we can't help you." siiigh tmo.

Post an update when you can. I suspect the BlackBerry is bad, but you won't know until you rule out everything else.

Re: 8520 Stuck

alright. went through it all. tmo was no help. didnt even look @ the phone. said it would cost $90 to replace.
Cell cart said $25 for battery. plus her battery was dead. and no refund. -.-
went to best buy mobile they had a blank stare.
Went to radioshack just for the hell of it. they had a 3.7v 900mHa 3.3v battery... $50 -.- bought it. just put it in.
red light>reload image 507 error.
just opened BB DM and couldnt connect. ran update. and ATM still running.
it got past the "JVM" error. its actually doing something now.
Update once i hit a wall or works.

Re: 8520 Stuck

Wish you could have tried battery before buying. I would have thrown in the towel. But 507 error isn't bad by itself, and being able to connect is a good sign. Fingers crossed.

Re: 8520 Stuck

alright. so.. it went through the whole thing. got worried on the reboot as it stopped at that infamous "e" but i did read to let it sit as it may take up to 10mins. and lucky i did. started right up. went through the "intro" and it went into BB. the computer was happy too.
i turned it off via the end call. and put in the extended battery. it did the red lighgt to BB to red "x" and im just waiting to see if it will boot to BB. so thus i can hopefully charge the battery and get this phone on the road.
Will update in a bit.

well thats wht the cell cart lady let me do. she said i could leave it in to see if the phone worked. but no read light, nothing. tried to power on, but nothing. i asked her if it was charged, she said yes. it was dead. that lil liar. but yea.
i asked radio if they had a bigger capcity battery, the girl looked but found nothing. -.-

Re: 8520 Stuck

You may have paid more for the battery than the used 8520 is worth. Maybe the experience is worth it, don't know. Does it seem worth it to you?

well thats the thing.. im trying to see what works. if this extended battery doesnt work ill just be down $5 for fast shipping.. then ill just buy an OEM batt off ebay for like $3.

At the moment its still stuck on the "e" part. but yet its still the red X... and ive been waiting. maybe it goes slower because the battery is more dead?
but that is what im trying to do. charge the battery... -.-

Re: 8520 Stuck

yep. so it did not move.
if the BB has to do this loading everytime, that must suck. it takes a while to start.
well took out the extended battery, put in new one. it started right up.. perfect fail.
Thank you for your help.
