Looking for good GPS with Turn by Turn audio
I just traded up from the Tour 9630 to the Torch 9850. I'm looking for a good depedable GPS app that provides Audio turn by turn prompts and does not require a monthly payment. I don't paying for the app if it's good.
I didn't see anything specific in blackberry app world confirming my requirements. Can anyone provide suggestions? |

I have found that if you plan to use it for true in car navigation, you are much better off with one of the stand alone GPS units. The price is decent, they are easily updated and they do not require a cell signal and BB data plan to work. |

Just an FYI for anyone else looking for updated GPS info. I just discovered Garmin offiver exactly what I'm looking for. They charge $99 for a lifetime license, but it provides all the featires of a stand alone GPS.
Garmin Mobile® for BlackBerry It looks like they support just about every model. |

DId you check with Garmin to make sure it is still valid? I thought that deal disappeared a couple years ago. Maybe they brought it back. If so, good find and thanks for the update.

I called Garmin support. They mentioned the GPS app was scheduled to be released on Oct 1st but slipped. The releasse is ment to support BB O/S 7 which all the new BB's use. All he could say is keep checking.
That task is now on my weekly calendar. I'll report back on how it works if/when I get it. |

You could try WisePilot. It is not as good as my TomTom, but not bad and it is available free.

Re: Looking for good GPS with Turn by Turn audio
Difficult to write a review at present, because I do not have a phone bracket and am usually driving alone with it on the passenger seat. I am therefore relying on the audio instructions. It certainly gets me from A to B.
The only minus points, as far as I can tell, are: 1) The audio volume is low. 2) Quoted distances to the next turn are a bit out. e.g. In 300yds turn right, is more like 200yds. Neither of these problems would matter too much if the screen was visible. The paid version offers more options including things like Live Traffic and Speed cameras. Hope this helps. |
