OS 6.0 Scroll Bar

Does anyone else think the scroll bar above the home screen icons takes up too much screen space? I'm a BB user who likes to see the bulk of my wallpaper on the home screen and that added scroll bar really cuts down on the viewing area available...

slide it down then

Go to your theme options and under rows choose No Icons.

I don't have OS 6.0 yet but wanted to ask about this issue... So you have the ability to modify the layout on the home screen?

You do. You can set the number of rows of icons at 2, 1 or none. That's about it. That scroll bar is not very "thick". I don't personally believe it to take up too much space. I use berryweather and so I am using the bw wallpaper so that I can have my weather icon on the home screen. I also have it set to show just one row of icons. IMHO, the screen is not too crowded. Here's a screenshot.

More screen shots with the different settings...

I tend to like to have the one row of icon. With the two rows of icons having wallpaper is meaningless

scassel thanks very much for taking the time to upload those screenshots... I have a picture of my dog as my wall paper that I like very much and didn't want any new layout on OS 6.0 to block portions of the image... I'm glad there will be options for me to choose from...

If you don't mind me asking, how did you get those images of your phone's home screen... Did you use a 2nd camara to capture them or is there some type of screen capture feature?

akosnitzky 09-24-2010 02:01 PM

Check out Zonasnap or Capture It!

BBSAK allows you to take screen shots.

Those shots are from QuickLaunch. It is the one third party app I highly recommend. It does lots of wonderful things with a lot fewer key strokes. The screen image is a plus.

wolf, why do you have "pictures" and "music" as text under your icons?

(y) see if you can change the layout to just icons. it won't free up a ton of room, but you'll get more than you have now.

I'm stumped. I've searched every menu and setting, and I can't find where to choose the number of icon rows. Little help?

And how do you get 6 icons in a row? I can only find under Accessibility the options for up to 4 or Auto (which gives 4).

Thanks!

Luke

P.S. I'm using a new Torch with the latest OS.

Torch gets 4 since it has touch screen.
