Just curious, is there any difference between the TMobile and the Cingular 4.0.2.49 software?

I had to uninstall Desktop & client in order for the 7100t recognize to new version.
There are no noticeable differences.

if you log in to My T-Mobile and navigate to Phone & Accessories, the System Software link will show Desktop Manager 4.0.1.12 and Handheld Software 4.0.2.49

All you had to do is locate and delete VENDOR.XML from your C: drive. No need to uninstall/reinstall anything.

casmer 09-29-2005 10:52 PM

I used the link first listed (standard upgrade link) and it had the latest software. but I did have to uninstall everything from my machine first before it would recognize.

jibi 09-29-2005 11:07 PM

c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader - delete the vendor.xml file - no reason to uninstall/reinstall as NJBB mentioned.

casmer 09-29-2005 11:22 PM

The funny thing is I have probably read that at leat a dozen times on other threads when it comes to this kind of stuff and it never crossed my mind. well, I am just a little slow on the uptake.

betabob 09-30-2005 12:35 AM

Has anyone checked to see if this version fixes the BT volume problem?

Soapm 09-30-2005 01:49 AM

When I connected my 7290 I got a message saying enhanced gprs available. I don't notice a difference though.

Any concerns or reasons to do a selective restore from 4.0.2.36 after upgrading?

dyzs 09-30-2005 04:13 AM

Anyone else notice how the net_rim_theme_blackberry_large.cod has gone missing for this distribution?

jibi 09-30-2005 08:33 AM

dyzs, it was never included in the 7100/7290. only the 7700 series installations. you downloaded it using my thread, i believe... ;-)

NJBlackBerry 09-30-2005 08:56 AM

Hey - let's start another themes thread. Well, not really.

KoD 09-30-2005 10:01 AM

Here's what the upgrade includes/resolves:

- Added support for picture messaging
- Support other emergency numbers besides 911
- Includes BlueTooth connectivity fix
- Added support for BlueTooth software
- Support 3rd party Java applications
- Resolved reboot issue when downloading large websites
- Resolved issue with high pitch sound on the phone
- Support 1900 and 1800 mhz
- Allows roaming on 1.9 platform (not quite sure if got the description right)

I hope it's worth upgrading, i'll be doing my upgrade in just a moment.

Cheers!

I wonder if T-Mobile will make 4.0.2 available for the 72xx phones that aren't BT enabled? Currently just HongKong CSL has it.

Nextel made 4.0.2 available for all 75xx phones.

texasag90 09-30-2005 11:26 AM

I was able to upgrade -- no issues at all.

I was hoping this upgrade would help with voice quality issues. Anybody heard anything about that? Is the "Resolved issue with high pitch sound on the phone" related? I never heard about that issue before.
