Broken TCP transport on BB??

Hi,

I have a BB running v4.6.0.162 on Vodafone UK contract.

I'm having reliability issues with BES/BIS transport and wanted to try using TCP transport with various applications. However this never works for application I've loaded on my phone (but does work fine using the phone as a modem with the "internet/web/web" APN/user/pass).

For example, if I configure TwitterBerry with the TCP connection mode and then press "Test Connection" it always fails. The same happens with MidpSSH. On a collegues BB that is on the same contract, network and BES this works fine. The only difference I can see is that his phone is firmware 4.6.0.126. His phone doesn't have any service books that I don't have and his "Advanced Options/TCP" APN settings are blank (I've tried blank and internet/web/web).

Any advice really appreciated. Could this be a bug in the later firmware?

Cheers,

Mark

.162 is a VERY old version of code. Current official release is 4.6.0.247. Upgrade it.

When I go to the blackberry downloads site for Vodafone UK (I'd share the link but the forum won't let me), .162 appears to be the latest "official" version. How do I find the later version for Vodafone UK please?

Okay, now running v4.6.0.247 with exactly the same symptoms and tried at least 4-5 different applications none of which can make a direct TCP connection. Have checked with the BES admin, and I'm on the "default" IT policy alongside my collegues phones that does allow TCP connections.

Any ideas?
