Changing the battery?
I'm looking to get a secondary battery for my wife's Pearl. It tends to help when she forgets to recharge her battery (often) and needs to get out quickly with a working phone, she can just replace the battery and get going, in the meantime we can let the other battery recharge in an universal recharger.
Anyways, I was checking into some batteries on Ebay, and came across one which comes with an accessory called a "code duplicate clamp". It's apparently there to transfer the code from one battery to another. Why is this needed? I got a Blackberry Bold myself, and I didn't have to do anything nearly so complicated to replace its battery. Is this something for very specific-market Peals only? Here's an ad that I saw this mentioned in: tinyurl.com/6khruat Sorry, I'm not allowed to post full URLs yet, so I had to use this roundabout method. |
Re: Changing the battery?
Save yourself the aggravation and buy a legitimate OEM battery from a legitimate store. Not eBay.

Re: Changing the battery?
IMHO, it i best to go with an OEM battery and not a cheap eBay knock off. You are never sue of the quality and compatibility with them. They are cheaper however.

Re: Changing the battery?
Thanks, but has anyone heard of having to code a battery before?

Re: Changing the battery?
The only thing I have read resembling what you speak of was in the following thread.
http://www.blackberryforums.com/gene...batteries.html I do NOT know the legitimacy of the data provided within. |

I've bought spare aftermarket batteries for my Bold 9700, but never had to go through this procedure on that one. The battery just worked. |
