problems with unlocking an 8700C

i did get an unlock code from gsmphonesource to unlock an 8700c (Cingular branded) which worked fine and the device now recognizes my TMO sim card. i can receive and send emails and also receive calls but i can't place calls. i got the device from a frind who bought the 8800 and had this previously. i think he might have run it on a corporate network.

is there anything else one needs to remove or what could this possibly be?

any help would be appreciated.....thank you.

Easiest and quickest way, you should first ask your friend to have the corporate IT polices removed from the device.

You could also make sure the contacts on the SIM card are clean, reseat it in the device, and reboot.

Good luck.

(or wait until next week for the TMO8800 and get that?)

It does sound like an IT policy prohibiting voice calls. You can test your TMO SIM in another phone/device to verify that you can place and receive calls with the SIM.
