8100 Sync on a Mac / Pocket Mac 4 Beta

Sorry guys but the people from pocketmac asked me to take down the email and dmg file. They said the final version should be out soon though. I will post if I hear anything else.

I'm dowloading it right now. I'll try it and post how it goes. Did you already installed? What do you think about it?

FijiParisi 09-26-2006 05:44 PM

downloading as well...

madagi 09-26-2006 06:19 PM

Sweet! This looks promising. Wish there was support for syncing via BT though. I don't have my USB cable with me at the moment so I'll have to try it out later. Anyone who's already tried it out, what are your initial thoughts?

aristobrat 09-26-2006 06:23 PM

Crap, I'm starving and was on the way out the door to grab dinner when I saw this. Guess dinner can wait. :)

works good. syncing my bookmarks and mail right now. Stickies Preferences caused it to freeze but that's it

rambo47 09-26-2006 07:03 PM

I synced with Entourage (Entourage:Mac version 11.2.5). I only did my contacts, notes, and calendar but they both worked perfectly. And fast, too! Nice job, PocketMac!

I'm also glad to see that stupid error message about "insufficient power to charge" is gone now.

PowerMac "QuickSilver"
Dual Processor 1 GHz (PPC)
Mac OS X 10.4.7
1.5 GB RAM

Blackberry "Pearl" 8100

drgoodtymes 09-26-2006 07:27 PM

downloading now...

well its better, but I still get duplicate stuff in the address book and calendar.
Mostly address and re-occuring eveings.

KeithJ 09-26-2006 07:29 PM

This is great thanks! About to test it now.

datafirm 09-26-2006 07:37 PM

It works! So happy. Thanks.

Now we just need Bluetooth tethering as a modem. :) :) :)

You can already do that... unless you mean syncing via BT.

FijiParisi 09-26-2006 07:54 PM

Few notes so far...

this my first blackberry and i am using OS X address book so idk whether the problem is the comp or the BB... but if the name in the BB matches the name in the address book exactly it doesnt transfer data either direction... for instance i have a phone number in my phone and an email address in my address book but after syncing BOTH arent in both places, just the originals...

also either BB or OS X or PM4 are not very intuitive... when i had a contact on my address book that i deleted, its because i want it gone,,, but then when i sync again it comes back from my BB... yes i know i can change it to one way sync but then i would lose all of the numbers that apply to question 1 above... they should at least have a pop up ask "you deleted XXXXXXXX recently, would you like to remove it from your BB or restore it to your address book?"

Not on a mac.. The BB does not respond to standard Hayes modem commands. Unless you have some news you'd like to share with us?!!?

datafirm 09-26-2006 08:16 PM

I find it very annoying how all versions of PM fill in empty Work and Home addresses for the AddressBook.app. I should really email them about this, its a annoying when using launchbar.

FijiParisi 09-26-2006 08:25 PM

check the mac forum for info on how to make your 8100 a BT modem... works just fine....

HSE 09-26-2006 08:37 PM

Just finished testing it on my MBP and it works great 8-) Flawless (so far), actually. I'll play with it some more and see if I run into any problems.

Thanks to the threadstarter, by the way (y)
