7100g and Bluetooth sync...beating a dead horse
I've searched, and I've read docs and FAQ's, but what I don't see is: Can the 7100g do desktop connectivity via Bluetooth?
What I think I've learned: It cannot. When I check services in the Bluetooth settings, I do not see Desktop connectivity. I checked my buddies 7130 and he does have that. I used my 7290 to sync, but haven't put my SIM card back in it to see if it has that option. Looks like I can only use it for a headset. That's a let down, I would have expected the 7100 to have more options, not less. Can anyone confirm this? |
Well, this pretty much sums it up:
2. No matter how you try to avoid it, you must have "Desktop Connectivity" and "Wireless Bypass" listed under your Bluetooth options. Guess I answered my own question. |
Well I called Rogers tech support this afternoon, they say those options are not needed for wireless sync via BT. Syas he just went to his lab where there is a 7100g and it doesn't have the options yet is linkied via BT.
Does *anyone* have a 7100x that sync is working on but does *not* have desktop connectivity and wireless bypass listed as services. He also gave my RIM's tech support number. |
Same struggle with 8700c
I am struggling with the exact same problems with my 8700C. Wireless Bypass and Desktop Connectivity show as services on my phone, but not in my laptop. I have tried to assign Activesync and Hotsync as options on my laptop, but no success. I have no trouble pairing the phone and laptop, and can connect the Handsfree services no sweat. But getting the sync to work is a huge struggle. My forehead hurts from banging it against the wall.
Help... please? |
