Is it finally here???!

BlackBerry: RIM's BlackBerry BIS v.2.5 Due On June 28, Will Include HTML Email Support

On June 28th, BISv2.5 will include HTML email support!

Do we need to wait for carrier approval or is this what we've been waiting for!

NickfromIL 06-22-2008 09:45 PM

It will include HTML support, but that requires OS 4.5, so you still have to wait for carriers to release that.

JSanders 06-22-2008 09:49 PM

They're a bit late to the 2.5 party.
Actually more like June 29th.

Beta OSes fly right? So we still need our carriers to update as well?

Lame.

JSanders 06-22-2008 10:12 PM

Or load another carrier's OS, although I would not recommend 4.5.0.37 on a TMo 8320. So, yes wait.

NickfromIL 06-22-2008 10:13 PM

Yes beta OS's will (assumption) work, but like JS said, there are known problems with .37 on T-Mo, so waiting will benefit you.

Pardon my continual ignorance, but some clarification would be appreciated. I just upgraded my desktop mngr (from AT&T) to ver 4.5, which was first offered on June 20th; I'm also aware that some time "soon" carriers will be offering OS 4.5 upgrades (there's been talk here that, aside from Asia or wherever, that this could happen as soon as June 24th. Now there's this thread re ver. 2.5. What's the latter about?

thanks

This thread is about BIS 2.5 which is due to be implemented in North America on the 28th/29th.

Desktop Manager 4.5 was released on the 20th.

OS 4.5 is slowly being released by the individual carriers.

Once the OS 4.5 is released, will the BES have be upgraded as well for us to be able to benefit from 4.5, and Docs to go (premium) etc?

John Clark 06-22-2008 11:34 PM

If you're on a BES, then yes. However, if you have a BIS account in additon to the BES account then you can take advantage of those options on the BIS account.

I have both. Thanks for your input.

mettleh3d 06-23-2008 02:53 AM

I have .42. It's the most solid (even more so than 4.2.2.180) OS for the 8320 Ive played with so far.

pretty excited

2.5 has arrived in Europe, I have it on Vodafone UK.

It looks like the download images automatically setting only applys to e-mails that have the images attached as files. images linked to the interweb have to be requested each time and it gives you a warning about your address being 'exposed'.

This is with the Vodafone Germany release of 4.5 on an 8110
