I believe the blackberry yahoo program works off the BIS. If you just have a data plan with your cellphone provider it will not work. You can try using IM+, which is an all in one (AOL, Yahoo!, MSN) chat client for the blackberry. It works off the regular cell phone data network and should fix the problem.

hope this helps :D

but all my friends are able to use it fine with the same carrier , I think something is wrong with my phone , and by the way I'm able to use the MSN , messenger fine :)

MSN uses text, not BB data. Maybe Yahoo requires a BB data plan. Quite possible.

Do all your friends have Blackberries?

yeap all of my friends do have BB data plan including me (device+plan) :(

I know it's a little late. but maybe there's a mistake in the service book. see if one of your friends will let you put your sim card in their BB and see if you can format their service book onto your sim... just make sure your friend backs up their BB first

Your specific plan also may not include yahoo messenger or it's not been enabled by your carrier. For example. Bell Mobility in canada provides WLM as part of every blackberry plan EXCEPT their student plan. If your not getting the service book it is likely that the carrier has chosen not to enable this service, or has and error blocking it (by not enabling you to even get the service book period). Either way a call to your carriers blackberry support team is your best way to get a real answer.
