HandHeldCleanup
I'm attempting to do a 3.6 (on Ex5.5) to 4.0 (on Ex2003SP1) migration. I've followed the instructions given by RIM to do the migration and the last step involves using the HandHeldCleanup.exe utility. I ran it with the -u switch and it prompts me for a "Please Enter BESName: ->" prompt. What do I put in here? I've tried the servername, the database name, my name, the service name, and nothing works.
I did a default install of 4.0 (with SP2) except I changed the path from the C drive to the E drive. |
you need to enter the name of your blackberry enterprise server. if you open BB manager, its the name thats to the right of the little green (hopefully) computer, under 'blackberry server management'
|
Thanks. I'll try that.

Tried again... still no-go.
This is what happens: My bes server is named "BBES" (in BB Manager) I ran "handheldcleanup -u" from the command prompt It asked me for a mail profile and I accepted the default (besadmin profile called "BlackBerryServer" It then asks for the BESName and I enter "BBES" (without the quotes) It then says: Open() Failed for BBES OpenDB Failed to open Database. What now? |
are you logged into the machine as the BES service account?
|
Yes, logged in as the service account.
I found out that it was a problem with MSDE. When I tried to restart the MSSQLSERVER it would not start back up. I got these errors in the event log: Error: 17826, Severity: 18, State: 1 Could not set up Net-Library 'SSNETLIB'. 17120 : SQL Server could not spawn FRunCM thread. I looked up the errors on Microsoft's site and found that they are caused by not having enough permissions. The BES service account is a member of the domain admins group and the local computer's administrators group. I've tried reinstalling about 5 times (both BES and MSDE from the BES setup) Please help!! |
Did you set the SQL-permissions on the MSDE database?
|
How do I check? And how do I set them?
