No significant new OS for 8800 series phones?
As I recall 4.3 was supposed to be available for 8800 series phones sometime in Feb/March, but I haven't heard anything in ages. Is the 9000 the OS upgrade path for my 8820? :(

OS 4.3 for the 8100 will never be released. OS 4.5 should be released in the next couple of months. There are lots of postings on this forum about it. So many, in fact, that we had to create a forum just for it. Check out the "Beta You Than Me" forum.

Thanks, I've been out of the loop for a while and didn't know about the new forum. I just scanned the 8800 forum for 4.3 and didn't find anything new in the past few months and figured it was dead in the water, looks like they leadfrogged to 4.5. I'll check out the beta forum.

Wirelessly posted (Verizon 8830)
To echo John Clark, your next OS will be 4.5. The 8x30 users may have to wait a bit longer than some of the others. |

Gartner Says Worldwide Mobile Phone Sales Increased 14 Per Cent in First Quarter of 2008 Looks like RIM doesn't even show up in the top list... |
You confuse mobile phones with PDA/Smartphones.
A different market segment. |
RIM went from 8mm to 14mm customers in one year.
Gartner refuses to even acknowledge RIM exists. I have fun mentioning this over and over to Ken Dulaney from Gartner. |
Whoops, iPhone on 1 carrier in the US. The fact is that RIM is a much smaller player in the global market. As phones become more powerful and the mobile is used for a myriad of options, e.g. payments, etc. the PDA/phone differentiation will become smaller.

Oh boy.
