8120 being retarded

i won a brand new BB 8120 in that contest. I recived my phone in hopes of having a nice toy to hold me over till the bold. I used to have an 8700g that still works but is all scrtached and such. Anywas the problem is the memory i did the optimizing and all and i got 20 mb but slowly it goes away and i have nothing running and nothing i went to play basket ball with out using it an dleft it in the car and it went from 18.1 mb to about 16.7 mb randomly, i had only 1 missed call and 1 text, mind you have barley anything on it and a media card. what can be causing this:bb:

Some memory loss like that is normal as the device runs. Is it running down to 0? What 3rd party apps do you have installed?

itsadrian 06-01-2008 06:09 PM

i have facebook, viigo, AIM, GTALK,and GMaps thats it all media on the memory card and i never had to reboot my 8700g it was a tank, well it only wen to 0 1 times before i realized this problem and by following ur intsructions and deleting stuff getting a media card i got 20mb after a reset. i just hate rebooting i like to just have it running all the time.

by the way its os 4.3.115

John Clark 06-01-2008 06:11 PM

You shouldn't have to. If you have 20Mb free, you should be fine. It may run down at times but I wouldn't worry too much until it gets less than 10. It's a good idea to reboot it once a week anyway.

itsadrian 06-01-2008 10:41 PM

alright whats a normal usage rundown i just want this to be like my 8700 but more updated!

thanx for your help!8-)

John Clark 06-01-2008 11:40 PM

Do you have a memory card for pictures? Every device is different on memory useage as every device has different apps. It's normal to see the memory run down a few meg after using for a bit.

itsadrian 06-02-2008 08:35 AM

yea i have a 2gb memory card that i store all media on, do you think this will be able to replace the 8700g!

itsadrian 06-02-2008 10:35 AM

now its down to 15.6 4.5 mb of just run down memory is a lot, i mean i havent installed anything new. i have been floating around 16.2 but now its dropped to 15.6 and thats from the starting 20 after a reboot!

i have checked other bb's curves and 8800 from sprint and they seem to be between 11 and 15 so it seems im doing good but their memory free's itself with out a reboot

John Clark 06-02-2008 10:38 AM

That's not that out of the ordinary. If it goes to less than 10 I'd be worried. What theme are you using?

itsadrian 06-02-2008 10:44 AM

im using t-mobile zen i like the bottom dock thats why. would this have an impact? if you say its normal then i belive you, but ive gotten bad checking the status i must access it about 100 times a day watching that file free number tease me going up and then down then up a little and down.

EDIT: droped to 14.6! after clearing cache back to 15.6 hovering their except after web use.

EDIT: 4:26pm down to 13.6! where is this loss coming from, i havent done barley anything!

itsadrian 06-02-2008 03:30 PM

floating around 13.6 for now.

i have found that opening viigo or another application can give me back memory

thinking of doing full OS reinstall any ideas?

itsadrian 06-02-2008 08:02 PM

itsadrian 06-03-2008 06:00 AM

Woke up 2 12.4 as soon as I ran an app dowwn to 11.5 wtf

itsadrian 06-03-2008 08:19 PM

reboot! wow hate that but up 19.9 at 12pm its now 9:19 and down to 18.3 after installing 2 themes

John Clark 06-03-2008 11:02 PM

Why would you install themes if you have a problem with memory? Do you use "Switch Application" a lot from the home screen?

itsadrian 06-04-2008 03:02 PM

dropped to 18.4 and holding

does the app changer create a memory leak?

John Clark 06-04-2008 03:08 PM

Yes.

itsadrian 06-04-2008 03:09 PM

so i should stay steady at 18.4 not using the app switcher

John Clark 06-04-2008 03:14 PM

Have you been using it a lot?
