Unusual Problem with Outlook 2000
Hardware:
Blackberry 7750 Platform 1.4.0.37 OS v3.7.1.36 Software: Desktop v3.6 from Blackberry website. Outlook 2000 SP3 w/MS Exchange on a NT Server Hello Everyone, Before I posted, I tried searching for a similar problem on the forum w/o any luck, so here it goes. Basically, Outlook's inbox or outbox will not update itself until another folder is selected and then the inbox or outbox is selected again. Also, the RIM just sits there and won't update itself and when it does update itself, it won't completely update. I've installed v4.0 and it's just the same thing. I'm going to perform a clean uninstall the current v3.6 today and see if Outlook still behaves like that on it's own. I will post any updates here as I work on it today. If anyone has any input, I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks in Advance, TR |
The first thing that I would do is to install the handheld and desktop 4.0 software.

Since this post, I have installed OS 4.0 and v4.0 of the software. I've also installed Outlook 2000 SR1a. Nothing has changed. I'm in the process of installing Service Pack 3 in Outlook.
To add to my problems, it won't forward any emails to the handheld as it should. Some of the emails just get stuck in the outbox, waiting to be "redirected." |
you may want to run a scanpst.exe on your PST file. typically, issues with Outlook that have email being delivered to a local store file (pre-2003) could be directly linked the corruption in the PST file.

I forgot to mention that the profiles are on exchange server 2000 on an NT machine. So there are no PST or OST files.

I was having the exact same problems. Then I began having authentification errors so RIM support had me uninstall Desktop 4.0 and install 3.6. We also experimented with changing profiles.
I ended up wiping the BBerry after all of that and it worked again. Sorry I cannot tell you which step actually did the fix. It is very troubling when the sync doesn't work reliably. Sometimes you don't notice something didn't sync until it is too late. |
What exactly do you mean by wiping the Blackberry? Do you currently have 3.6 installed? If yes, did you install any Service Packs?
Just FYI: This is a new comp and new Blackberry. |

Under Options then Security you press the thumbwheel and select Wipe Handheld. This erases everything from the database and delete aftermarket programs, as I recall. Then you can re sync. I am now running 3.6 sp2 as I was advised by RIM to do. Hopefully, an update to 4.0 is forthcoming. |
