GPS..why it does't work..
 
hai i just wanna know why my GPS for blackberry 9700 (goolge maps) does'nt work even it's show the strong signal for 3G coverage..it also effect to my GPS based app such as BTsidekick for me to get any info based on my location.
can anybody explain to me how to fix it..

Did you check if anything under option-advance-gps is disabled? Specially locations should be enabled. Though the new Google maps doesn't even rely that much on GPS. It uses moore of the cell tower info to pinpoint your location.

I had the same problem when I install new OS released. After I install official OS, there's no problem

GPS does not get its signals from the carrier.

To get GPS, you need to be outside, with a clear view of the sky. It can take 20 minutes or longer to find your position.

Using Google Maps will help the process as it uses cell tower data to locate you within 2500 meters of actual, speeding up the GPS lock on process.

As for Google maps, do you have a BB data plan. You must have that to download the maps.

Joginder, you are incorrect. GoogleMaps uses cell tower data and triangulation to locate you within 2500 meters or so of your actual position using data from the tower and triangulation initially. Once the GPS locks on, GPS data is used to indicate position and movement, not tower data.
