Wes 2008

I hope I can convince my boss to let me go this year. I live in Orlando, so it's not like I need to stay at the hotel. Hmm, go to a conference and still sleep in my own bed....

Hey jsplit, will Boxtone be offering a discount again this year??? The hotel rate is way over my per diem, so I look for anyway to get the total costs lowered.

I'm going to try and come in a day early at least and and least leave the day after the conference. I left last year on Thursday and as a result I missed a few afternoon sessions in order to get to the airport.

Debating on the rental car, although I used it a good bit last year with some trips to Magic Kingdom, Animal Kingdom, and Downtown Disney. Not sure I want to mess around with a cab, though (never had to use one before).

Jibi, Hong Kong??? How can you keep up with the coaching carosuel in Hong Kong??????

x14 01-07-2008 07:49 PM

I'm thinking of getting there on Sunday..

juwaack68 01-07-2008 08:12 PM

I just got approval today. YAY!

Just waiting on a promo code to combine with early registration and alumni discount before I register and get hotel.

Will probably just be there Monday thru Friday.....boring, but kids hate it when I travel.

We might - I'll find out for you. We're going to be doing a bunch of promotional things around WES - should figure it all out this month.

 Everyone have a drink for me and take some pictures. I thought about asking to go and trying to haul the baby along with me, but I just don't think it will be feasible. I will definitely be there in 2009 though!

Just waiting for registration to open up and get my vendor discount code from Verizon.
Prolly going down on Saturday morning and stay thru Saturday afternoon.

Who wants to hang out with me?

EDIT/UPDATE: OMG PWND. Just called 877-645-9324 to get a government rate for the hotel. I got an automated message saying, "Registration is now closed. Onsite registration will now open on May 6, 2007."
Guess I'm a little late for getting that gov't rate, huh?

jibi 01-15-2008 07:30 PM

Darth, that recording was from last year. Registration should open in the next week or so. Discounts will be available shortly thereafter from carriers, RIM and sponsors.

Dear WES Alumni,

Registration for WES 2008 will be opening up next week, and we're looking forward to another great event this year! You'll be getting an email from us as soon as registration opens. Don't forget that as a WES alumnus you'll receive an additional $100 off the registration fee. Just register using the same email address that you used last year to have this discount automatically applied.

In the meantime we wanted to let you know that the WES hotel reservations are now open, so you can get a head start on booking your hotel ahead of the crowd. You'll find the links to each hotel's reservation site here: WES 2008: Hotel & Travel. We're expecting spaces at the Marriott to fill up quickly so be sure to reserve your room as soon as possible! Be sure to tell the hotel that you are with WES 2008 when you make your reservation.

Details on sessions and more information about the WES 2008 party will also be posted to our website shortly. Keep an eye on WES 2008 and your inbox for all the updates.

If you have any questions about hotels or registration please contact The Meeting Source at mailto:regsvc@mtgsrc.com, phone: 877-645-9324 (U.S. & Canada),
770-592-1521 (International).

We're looking forward to reconnecting with you in Orlando!

Sincerely,
The WES Team

With me being government, want my government rate for the hotel. Tried calling 877-645-9324 again. This time they said that registration opens on Tuesday 1/22/08. Guess I'll wait until then. $211 is way too much. Got a gov't rate of $89 last year. Hope it's the same again.

Still gonna go from 5/10 - 5/17. Play on Sat afternoon/night and Sunday. Considering Blue Man Group at Universal Studios Saturday night or Sunday night. Any joiners? (Tickets may be a bit pricey, but if you've never seen BMG, it's WORTH it.)

x14 01-23-2008 11:11 AM

Just called the hotel. They are completely booked for 5/12 and 5/13.

juwaack68 01-23-2008 11:15 AM

Yikes. I must have got in right under the wire. I booked my stay at the Marriott yesterday.

mahoward 01-23-2008 12:02 PM

Yeah, got myself a room last week b/c of last years shortage. Still haven't registered for WES itself though!

AlanM 01-23-2008 01:21 PM

I just reserved my room at the Marriott, May 12-16th. Of course, they said they did not have anything with the govt rate. :( I still have to have the trip approved, however.

Got mine reserved 5/10-5/17. No gov't rate though. But that doesn't mean that I'm not gonna call/complain/voice my opinion on a weekly basis until I get one. I'll just be .... consistent in my complaints until I get what I want. :)

hdawg 01-23-2008 03:29 PM

With it being a Marriott and all I'm surprised people aren't abusing the published corporate codes ...
