BB MAPS in 8520 not working !!! :(
 

Hi all!

I have got BB Curve 8520, I am facing some problems during installation of BB Maps... which are as under:

Currently i am having V5.0.0.592(Bundle 1096 Platform 5.2.0.64), Kernel v3.8.5.85, Branding Version: 1.0.149.560s, Micro Edition Configuration: CLDC-1.1

I just tried to install maps from BlackBerry Desktop Software, after installing maps it shows in Applications in Desktop software but in my mobile i am not able to find even the MAP icon. I a;so checked the "Download & Application Folders (No Hidden Icons)"

Can you please update me how to install MAPS on BB 8520 and Google MAPS ? Your suggestions are highly appreciated.

Just curious, where in the heck do you find kernel version?

If you are using AT&T as your profile states, I believe they block BB maps.

For google maps, use your device browser and go to >> Google Maps

Yes, AT&T hides BBMaps.

There is a work around by installing the "ribbon" file. If you search for that, you should find the links.

Otherwise, just use Google Maps which are better anyway.

First question - do you have a BB data plan? If yes, use Google to find Google maps for BB. Have them send you a text with the link to download directly yo the BB.

If no BB data plan, call your carrier to get one as you must have it for Google Maps to work. If you are on AT&T they will eventually add it anyway as it is required for a BB.
