I think that the 8700 is very comfortabel to hold and use as a phone. Every one that has used it liked it and did not feel weird about it. So far 5 have bought it because of that.

I have a Verizon BB 7750 and a Sprint speaker-cell phone. At home, only the Sprint has a connection, so that's that.

got a Razr v3i, and soon a BB8700c

v3i for voice
8700c for data
i had a sanyo 2300 for 10-4 before as well... but didn't need it that much

Oh ya, I don't personally have a problem with using the 8700 as a phone. But, it is useful to have a headset so you can interact with the device while on the phone though.

I use the BT headset too especialy when I need to multitask. I do that with any phone.

Same here. The only thing missing from the BBerry at the moment is voice dialing. I use that feature all the time, and I see it as being pretty essential for a phone.

I travel a lot so have an 8700 for Canada and a 7290 for Switzerland, each with its own chip (I travel with both). The 7290 is unlocked to accomodate the Swisscom chip, but at least all I need is one charger/sync cable for both units to always be up to date with the same contact & sched info...

I have a friend with the old large Blackberry (7700 series) that uses a separate small cell on the weekends. With the size of the 8700, I can't see any advantage unless you have a work/personal issue to worry about.

8700 all the way. It's my home phone too.

I have a seperate phone and Blackberry as well. The phone is a simple Motorola V180 and the BB is a 7780. I can't stand using BB's as phones. I tried using the 6210 that I had before the 7780 and hated it. Never went back. If I decide to upgrade to a 7100 series BB then I might drop the phone, but I'm not sure. I'll probably hold out for a while and see what RIM pulls out of their hat next. The 7780 still works just fine so there's no rush.

Then there's the Dell Axim X51v that I carry around too.

I don't carry a separate phone (I did at one time for contract reasons). I hated carrying two devices, seamed pointless. The 8700 is a much better phone than my 7280 was. It is much louder, feels better, plus it has speakerphone and Bluetooth.

I got another sony ericsson K750i, seldom carry them both!!!

I'd love to be able to just use the 8700c, but Cingular coverage is just so poor compared to my Verizon LG phone. So I'm forced to carry both ;-(

A shiny new 8700 and Black Razr. I use the 8700 strictly for business(real estate acquisition and finance) and the Razr for personal.

drgoodtymes 04-29-2006 01:53 PM

I carry an 8700 and a 7520

xkon 04-29-2006 02:00 PM

The 8700r is always within arms reach, and Ive converged everything onto it. I used to carry a 7290 as well until I got 2 BES to work on one BB... now I dont see the point. BT Headset for calls, although I dont mind holding the wallet to the face either

paradisephoto 04-29-2006 02:59 PM

Verizon 7130e, single device. I have carried two devices before, got really tired of not fitting into seats with cell phones on each hip. One devise, all functions, not a pancake, it's a beautiful thing.

tprime 04-29-2006 06:17 PM

My 8700g is my ultimate communicating device so I need no other phone. I encourage my friends to text or email me. if they must call I have my BT headset.
