How to turn automatic keypad lock on? Any Software?

Hi guys, absolute newbie here. Just got my 8100 yesterday. One thing I don't like is it doesn't automatically lock my keyboard after a min or so, and because of the trackball, it dials without my knowledge very easily. I don't think there is any in-built option to do this...But do you know any software for this. I found a few for Symbian but none in java/blackberry. Also it would be good if the software is free or at least as cheap as possible.

Thanks is advance.

good question. There is indeed an app that should satisfy your requirements. Try auto lock here:

It won't turn on after 1 minute but you can set one of the convienence keys to lock with 1 push.

Or you can just Press and hold the * for one second....

this is exactly what i did and it works like a charm! pressing a button is so much more convenient!

But why not use the short-cut of pressing * and saving your convience key for something else? :)

If you set up a password, you get the auto lock feature.

I don't really use my convience keys for anything other than lock and address book, what else would you need it for? As long as they like it why does it matter?

Thanks

Thanks Guys! I realized later that I can lock BB with * key. However, I sometimes tend to forget to do that. So just to be on safe side I wanted to installed Autolock. It works great. However, I can't find it in the menu, so I can't change the option. It has it's default option, which right now I think is to lock it as soon as the light goes off.

Also, in other problems -- I can't install opera mini 4 beta. I downloaded the file to my desktop and then tried to use desktop manager to install it and it showed "downgrade" next to opera!! I wonder why?? I have never installed opera and since 4 is the latest version, I don't see why it thinks it's downgrading it. I tried to go ahead with it, it succeeded, the phone restarted itself, and I can't find Opera in the menu.

I just thought that maybe you can have some insight. I will also post this to it's own thread. Thanks very much for all your suggestions and help.

Sorry: I did find the settings for autolock under menu-->options-->autolock. But the opera problem still remains.

Hey People,

I actually downloaded the Autolock app. but it doesn't work for me. I had it before and it worked perfectly. But since i upgraded the OS to the 4.2.1.96 it no longer works for me. I have installed it plenty of times already and it doesn't work at all. Does anyone know if there is something that i am missing? Maybe somekind of authority of the sort or something somewhere i need to change? Any help would be grand.

Thanks in advance guys.

AutoLock never worked for me, even before I upgraded the OS. It said enabled, I gave it a 10 minute time frame... nothing. I even rebooted and pulled the battery. So I just deleted it. I don't know why it didn't work, so I just use the * key to lock it.
