Help! "Data Service Not Available" error

Hello!

1. I need help with my BB 8120. I've installed Yahoo! Messenger. When I try to login, an error shows displaying "Data Service Not Available". What should I do?

2. I am also unable to sign-in to Face Book.

3. What is RIM?

Thanks for Advice!

But where can I get the "Blackberry data plan"?
Is it a built-in facility or should I download from somewhere?

Actually this is my first BB mobile.

Call your carrier to add it. You cannot download it.

But I have purchased a Used set. Would the carrier help in this? I don't think so.

You need a BB dataplan added and activated by your cell carrier. It is over nd above your voice plan. They are the only ones who can make it happen. Having a used device has nothing to do with it.

I've read detail in "What do I need a Data Plan for?"

It says that I cannot use internet using built-in browser.
But I am able to use internet using this browser over my WLAN.
I'm using Home Wireless Network. I've downloaded Yahoo Messenger
using this WLAN and BB Browser.

I want to use Yahoo Messenger and Face Book and other applications using
my WLAN. If I contact my carrier, they will activate GPRS or EDGE, which
is not cost effective. So if there is some way to use them on WLAN?

Nope, you need a blackberry data plan.
