Sprint-Nextel 8830 Launch

Hear ye, Hear ye,

Sprint-Nextel announced to add the 8830 to their line-up. It has an expected launch date of 6/14/07. CDMA/GSM roaming and with GPS Capabilities.

jwolf7722 04-11-2007 11:54 AM

Wirelessly posted (BlackBerry7130e/4.1.0 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/104)

That would be cool. I need a upgrade.

Where did you find this nugget of info from? If true it would be sweet!

Dubdub 04-11-2007 12:22 PM

CDMA in the US, GSM outside the US. Same as the Verizon Worldphone.

Is this for Sprint or Nextel? If Nextel, is this the much anticipated Hybrid blackberry between the Sprint voice/data and Nextel iDen networks? Any news if they will be releasing a Pearl verison as well?

Boo! How long are we going to have to wait for this mysterious hyrbid blackberry!

wdduck 04-11-2007 01:52 PM

This all came in a press release from Sprint today.

FalloutMan 04-11-2007 02:01 PM

just face it, nextel BBs are a thing of the past. Just jump ship to Cingular.

smoothballer 04-11-2007 02:06 PM

Long live Nextel PPT!

A thing of the past... I'm sorry that I do not like waiting several seconds between when I send the PPT and when the user actually hears the message like on your beloved Cingular network.

test54 04-11-2007 02:39 PM

8830 huh, doesn that press release say anything about camera or wifi?

cruzer3 04-11-2007 03:05 PM

8830

Have been seeing alot of news for Verizon getting this BB but I have not seen anything for Sprint. But if Verizon is getting it I am sure Sprint will be a few (2-3) months after Verizon puts it out. Plus Sprint already has a World phone so all you need is a Spritn SIM card for the GSM part.

Any ideas on what the cost will be??

you could text them instead since you would have a full keyboard. for me at least, i would trade PTT for the newest BB any day, but if you wanna stick with older stuff, go right ahead.

wdduck 04-11-2007 08:56 PM

No WiFi or Camera listed on the release.

FalloutMan 04-11-2007 09:19 PM

The day Sprint puts on WiFi is the day Nextel gets a new BB

bmw1986 04-11-2007 09:55 PM

Can we see this press release?

I second that

josecrzymojo 04-12-2007 01:04 AM

sprint

you know sprint does support handsets with wifi. primarily the ppc are the only devices with it built in. also sprint supports data use, during phone use thanks to evdo ,faster data speeds. something most cingular phones dont. also the ptt on nextel network is alot better than that of cingular. cingulars is comparable to the sprint ready link service. witch will be replaced in 09' for new ptt tech

ps on the sprint press release on the boy genius report confirms model due in june. no specs yet

wdduck 04-12-2007 02:49 PM

OK Guys, due to confidentiality reasons I can't post the release if i want to continue to receive these. I have a complete list of upcoming and end of life handsets.

Ok, we know the 8830 is coming to Sprint in June, but is the 8100 also on the list, if so, when.
We really want to know.
