Animated Backgrounds
 

Has anyone got any info on how this is done? Does Plazmic 4.6 allow it? I know importing an animated gif into the background field doesn't show it on the Simulation phone, but does it do it when exported and OTA'd?

Yes 4.6 does allow for this. So does Plazmic 4.5

If the simulator doesnt show it animated, then it will not be animated OTA.

Yes it does or you wouldn't see the animated themes :smile:

animated GIF background will not show OTA. There is a different process for getting it than just changing the background image.

Oh! I read it wrong...I was mistaken when I read that...was reading it too fast

I have figured out how to do animated themes in both svg and gif format but when I
import a gif, it does not work and I noticed that there is a bug in composer 4.6 that
does not allow you to 'loop' svg files. If you have gotten it to work please tell me.

I have animated a theme that loops just fine. Works on all 4.5+ devices

If you don;t want to publicly announce how, please can you send me a PM regarding how to do it? I assume it's all about looping an SVG file rather than "just an animated gif imported" ?

There is the OTA link (9000 only) to a demonstration theme. I havent decided how/if i am going to release the information. Currently I am trying to animate other types of files to see if it was a fluke or not.

Umm, just downloaded that Theme Sith and it's not animated.

ok, established the initial animation :)

However, it only goes through 1 loop, not "infinite".

Any thoughts here Sith?

I have now resolved all issues with custom animated backgrounds.

I will be releasing the first one in about 20 minutes and of course, it will be the BB Forums one :)

yeah works on all the devices i have tried it on, any OS 4.5+. I have a 83/88xx version as well that works.
