Migrate BES 5SP3 on Win2003 to Windows 2008R2
 

We have a legacy BES still in the environment running on Windows 2003 Standard with only one user. With support ending for that OS on 7/14/15, we're looking at what we want to do with it. We do not have a failover build running, nor did we renew the RIM maintenance contract.

It's been years since I built a BES, and I'm leery of building a new 2008R2 server running BES without support. Can anyone give me guidance on how difficult this would be without RIM support? Since there is only one person on it, I'd really prefer they switch devices so we don't need to migrate it... but I need to be prepared for stubbornness.

installing on 2008 or 2012 is fairly easy to do and you should get the latest SP installed too
