8700g Wheel Jammed

my wheel on my 8700g goes up and down but i cant use it to select anything it seems to be jammed is there anyway for me to fix this for do i need to bring it in somewhere and also i cant do alot of things with out using that wheel to click is there anyway around that like to get the menu up to send an email or a text message you need to click that wheel is there any other way of doing it?

There is no alternate means of sending and email or getting the menus up with out the trackwheel. The entire trackwheel assembly would need to be replaced. It's likely time for a new device.

Send it to - ProMobility Home - Start to get repaired.

you can also repair it your self if you can get the part.

If your good at small electronics, buy a junker and replace the part. There is info on the site for someone who is willing to take it apart.

Good Luck

I have done it myself

Be glad to answer questions for you, truth be told you may be better buying a used one. Trackwheel sells for about 50 new

can someone post a guide to replacing it my self if i do wind up buying the part

John Clark 01-20-2008 09:30 PM

I would just use google and see if you can find something for a How-To on the trackwheel. Honestly, you could maybe fix it but you could also spend $50 on the part and then fry the device trying to fix it. My recommendation is to just replace the BB. There are some great devices out there. Upgrade to the 8320 and get wifi/uma, a camera, and media card support. If you're in contract and can't get a subsidized price then check the buy/sell/trade forum here for one. I've seen quite a few come through. I suppose it just depends on how adventurous you are.

If you really want to save the device we have a member here who has a repair shop. He is ShapelessBB on the forums here and has this store:
