Sounds for Contacts
 

I am a new BB user. Recently purchased the Torch and am very happy with it. However, I am stumped with one item:

For some contacts the customized alert settings work for incoming text messages, for other contacts they don't work at all and default to the "normal profile" settings.

Am I skipping a step on some contacts but, getting it right on others? I have deleted contacts and re-added them...doesn't change a thing. Some work and some don't.

Its all about how the incoming number caller ID is shown. Be sure the contact's number matches what the caller ID is..... no (333) 222-3333 or 222-333-3333

Dang...I never considered that. I sync from Outlook and ALL of my contacts have the (xxx) xxx-xxxx format. I now notice that one of the contacts that worked with the assigned text alert had no parenthesis or dashes in the BB contacts folder, as that had been added to BB first...then, synced with Outlook. After some testing, I may have some adjusting to do. Thank you, whsbuss for your help.
