App world problem - won't update apps
 

My wife has a 9700 on tmo, it's only a couple weeks old as she sent her old one back due to SD card issues. Her AppWorld is telling her she's got a couple apps (Facebook and BBM among others) that have updates available, but when she hits 'update' it tries to connect to AppWorld and then tells her they are unavailable for download. I tried re-installing app world but it still did the same thing. She has internet connectivity and it's not a signal issue because her phone is connected to our home's wifi through UMA.

What to do and where to start? Ideas appreciated...

Have you tried un-installing the specific apps that are giving you trouble.

Also has she upgraded her OS.

I had something similar happen a while back. I knew the app was upgraded, I could go directly to the website for the app and install it, yet app world showed no upgrade. I know it isn't exactly the same. But at any rate, shortly after an app world upgrade became available. I did the app world upgrade, and BINGO! the upgrade for that app showed in app world.

I'm with zerog46, if you done a hard reset, removed and reinstalled app world and the subject app and reinstalled, and neither of those procedures fix it, then an OS upgrade is the next thing to try, if there is a newer OS.

I guess you could try doing a security wipe and select to delete third-party apps, and then try upgrading that app first thing. I don't know whether that is likely or unlikely to be successful. But it may be worth a try if it won't be too painful.

Or if you can install the upgrade from the developer's site, do that.

I had a similar problem with the most recent Evernote app for BB. App World didn't list an upgrade available, their website said it was and offered download links, which didn't do anything at all when I tried to OTA dl them ... I ended up deinstalling the Evernote version I had on the device, re-add from App World ... and sure enough an 'upgrade' alert showed up and I upgraded it.

Weird and a PIA but I finally got it.

I got a sign that there is a update available for app world (I have the tour 9630 with sprint) I tried updating & the whole application "app world" just disappeared from my phone! Any1 know how I can get it back?

I had the same issue and I had to call RIM. RIM stated that it was a known issue, and the current workaround was to create another app world ID.
