Basic Newbie Question

hello
i am considering a Blackberry 8700 but have teh following questions:

1) Can i Buy an unlocked BB8700? For how much? My current Service Provider doesnt support BB

2) IF I get an ulocked BB, what do I use for Push Email/OTA Sync?

3) Does the 8700 support OBEX/Internet Sharing over Bluetooth?

4) Has anyone used an 8700 as a modem with a Mac? BB is offering free Mac Sync Tools, do does it support being a Modem?

Probably because a simple search would reveal it all to you....

Other than the typical "STFU and STFA..nOOb !!11!!1 one"

I would say to you that we are not here to serve you

The first thing you need to do is to see who has the best coverage in the area where you will be using the BB - using means live, work, travel, play, etc. Currently Cingular is the only US carrier with the 8700. Rogers has it in Canada, I think. The US version costs $350, $300 with a plan. Keep in mind you will need both a voice and BB data plan.

I can't say what the unlock costs are, but if you do a search on this forum, I am sure you will find several posts with that info. Same with your other questions. I think there is a program that BB has to support synch with a MAC.

thank you dubdub, and thanks to all who replied. google is of coure the first tool, which has only revelead ways to 'unlock' a BB using certain tools and codes. the BB website doesnt seem to have information on unlocked phones. ebay prices are anywhere from 475 USD to 550 USD and across either way, with little way of knowing before I pay up, the condition of these machines, PLUS whether the unlocking codes wilL ACTUALLY WORK and make all features usable.. since i am not in the US, certain carriers make little sense to me. since my service provider doenst support BB, I am looking at the other solution to get my personal mail delivered to the BB, at a resonable cost, OUTSIDE OF THE US, since most of these services are available to the US only. Funambol has still not replied to my mails to them.
so if anyone has anything valuable to add, I am listening.

and since this is the world wide web, I guess there is nothing called 'early hour'.

just doing my two bits of homework... wish Balckberry sold it unlocked through various dealers worldwide.

if your service provider does not support the BB data system, I don't think you're going to be able to use your BB for anything other than a phone and PDA. Your cellular provider is the only one that can activate the blackberry with RIM and I'm pretty sure that is the only way to get access to any data services.

Hope this helps.
