Latest OS: 9780 6.0.0.668 (Multilanguage)

BlackBerry Handheld Software v6.0.0.668 (Multilanguage)
This will install to any carrier's 9780 by following the instructions below:

Note: The Software Platform and Applications version numbers can be found under Options-About screen on the handheld.

Download the OS file here: Swisscom DownloadCenter

Instructions for installing on the 9780:
1. Download the above OS file to the PC then install it to the PC by running (double clicking) the file you downloaded.
2. Go to c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader and delete the file named "vendor.xml." Vista/Win7 users: In the apploader folder, simply click on "Compatibility files" to see the actual Vendor.xml file. Once you've got that - simply delete the vendor.xml file there (even if you've deleted or think you've deleted it in the folder previously) and voila, it will allow you to update to the newly installed OS!
3. Plug in BB and double click on "Loader.exe." It's located in the same place as the above vendor.xml file.

The process may take up to 45 minutes to an hour depending on how much data you have to backup and restore during the process. Once it's done loading the new OS it will reboot (it may do this twice during the entire process.) You will see a black "BlackBerry" screen with a status bar for up to 20 minutes at a time while the DM says "waiting for initialization."
If, for some reason, you end up with a white screen with small icons and the number 507, simply connect to the PC again and run Loader.exe again, and it should load the OS to the device.

I've got build 6.0.0.666 and when I tried to upgrade it didn't offer any OS upgrade so I guess at the OS level they're equivalent

Did you follow the instructions TO THE LETTER and make sure you deleted ALL copies of Vendor.XML from your C: drive?

Need to delete Vendor.xml from this location as well, then you will see the new OS as an option

XP:
C:\Documents and Settings\username\Application Data\Research In Motion\BlackBerry\Loader XML\Vendor.xml

Re: Latest OS: 9780 6.0.0.668 (Multilanguage)

Hello,

I am using a 9780 brought from India, loaded with OS 6.0 bundle 2115.

The phone comes with certain languages (english, french, italian, Sri, Chinese, etc) and theproblem is that there is no GREEK language option to use as an input language.

I have contacted my carrier (Greek COSMOTE), i have downladed their latest version (9780M_PBr6.0.0_rel2534_PL6.6.0.212_A6.0.0.570_COS MOTE), installed on my hard drive.. following the instrucions given above. (deleting Vendor.xml, etc)

Now, the point is that the UPLOADER does not prompt for an upgrade.
Same thing by trying to do this via Desctop Manager..

I have tried ALL LANGAGE packages from other carriers around the world, the uploader is doing nothing.

Please be so kind to advice on how to resolve this, and finally have the Greek language available on this 9780.

Thanks

Isn't there a newer update posted in "New and Beta" postings for 6.0.0.3049/6.0.0.706, or am I missing something??
