Blackberry Javelin?
This device looks awesome.
Basically a Bold/Curve with more space between the keys. BlackBerry Javelin Caught on Video!! | CrackBerry.com |
Been posted about. It's basically the Bold without 3G.

Why rim why??? That should of been the bold!!!! That is 10x better then the bold, the keyboard alone looks like the best keyboard of them all. Yet they didn't include 3g.
I want that device with 3g! |
|
I saw a pic of a reporter with a Javelin through the knee!!!!
OOHH wrong Javelin |
Want!

well if this thing is coming out in 2009 hopefully TMO will get this since my contract will be up. I will either jump ship to AT&T or keep TMO if either gets it. It's pretty much a curve 2.0

It's just different enough from the Bold to be a completely different animal. The keyboard is way different. Separated keys as compared to the 8800-style keyboard of the Bold. I was hoping it would be released through T-Mobile (no real 3G) along side the AT&T Bold release. But apparently it's mid-2009. And that sucks. Hard. Cool device though.

something tells me this device will be ready long before next summer.

This, to me, is looking way better than the bold!

I really want this phone I hope it comes out sooner than next year

why 2009? WHY!
|
is it me or its the bold with a curve keyboard? i like it if its smaller then the bold and curve size.
|
I just don't understand why RIM would release a new unit without 3g if it is for the GSM market. I understand that T-Mo doesn't officially have a 3G footprint yet, but it just doesn't make sense. I bought an 8300, then an 8320, which I still love. I will definitely replace it with a Bold, or a 3G variant of the Javelin, but there is no way I will spend good money on a Curve in a new form factor. I'm no marketing expert, but I can't imagine that I am the only one that will think this way when this thing comes out. The carriers will make plenty of sales of these units if they replace the Curve with it, but I can't imagine that they will get much in the way of upgrade sales to current Curve users.

I guess there is a certain logic to releasing a non-3G Blackberry, especially for those carriers that don't have 3G. If it's significantly cheaper than the Bold then it fills a niche. The different keyboard may also be a draw for those that never liked the 8800-style keyboard. Even though I'm on T-Lame-o, I'll probably go for the Bold, unlocked, just to keep my options open as far as jumping to AT&T. In the end, the Javelin's success will hinge on price, IMHO.
