Error 507 on BB 7520 - PLEASE HELP
 

Hi there,

I purchase a large lot of 7520 used cell phones. I downloaded the Nextel software as instructed from the download page on this forum.
I connected and goet to the Connecteding to ROM section and then it says unable to communicate.

Is there a way I can fix this? I have heard you can send them in pay around $30 and have it fixed. So there has to be a way to get some kind of software to do it yourself. Thanks for the help!

A 507 means the handheld Operating System is not found.

You need to have Desktop Manager (use the latest one) and the latest Handheld OS for the 7520.

When I go to the comand prompt my is set to Documents and each time I try to type in the command from the 'JL Cmander" page "this is not recognized as an internal or external command".

If your device already shows error 507 then JL_Cmder will do nothing for you. Try this:

If you already have 507 on the device then you simply need to reload the OS to the device. JL_Cmder only wipes and gives you 507.

Use Desktop Manager or the method I just posted to reload the OS to the device.

I use the Desktop Manager and go thru the process. Everything goes good until I get to the "Load Radio Software" and it say "Connecting to boot ROM", after 10 seconds or so it goes to the "Unable to communicate" page and I hit close to end. How can I get past the portion the BB is getting stuck on?

It's possible this device is defective. There were issues (if I remember correctly) with 7520's becoming defective during OS upgrades. If that's the case, there is no way to fix it yourself. You may have a dead unit.

Thanks for the help, I know a person that can fix it, but I have to pay him for it. I'm just trying to figure out how to do it myself and be nice to know if this happens again in the future.
