Hello from Newbie (with Curve 8900 White Screen Prob)

Hello Everyone,

I'm new to the forum, purchased my Blackberry Curve 8900 in Feb this year, and absolutely love it. Discovered this forum after dropping my phone on Friday and ending up with a white screen. I think the actual phone is working, just no screen facilities.

I've searched the forum and found info on taking apart a Pearl in order to insulate the solder points, but nothing on a Curve 8900. Has anyone else had the same problem with a Curve and fixed it? Having severe withdrawal symptoms, worried about not having my diary etc.... desperate for a fix for my Blackberry!

Anyway, nice to meet everyone on here

have you pulled the battery out?

Scotslassie 07-05-2009 04:20 PM

Yes tried that several times over....

It sounds more like you may have physically damaged the device.
It might need a new screen, or perhaps even the control board is damaged.
I would guess a new Blackberry is in your future.
Did you get insurance?

No - didn't bother with the insurance as it was £120 a year and seemed over the top ...... you don't think insulating the solder points behind the screen might be an option for this one then?

Anyone in UK know of good places to get second hand Blackberry's???

Wirelessly posted (overwhelmingly stressed)

The cable connecting the lcd to the main board may have come loose!
Contact www.horizonwirelessonline.com they can probably help you

I agree, that seems a huge price to pay for insurance.
And, Ebay is always the first place I look for a used Blackberry.
Several good re-sellers and Ebay stores that have decent prices.
Might even get one under the cost of what the insurance was (although maybe not a 8900)

OK - thanks, I will do!!
