synchronize thousands of contacts between Outlook and blackberry smartphone?
I've been asked to check for any possible issues about synchronizing thousands of outlook contacts (about 20000-25000 contacts!) with a blackberry smartphone (models used here are 8330 and 9000). A specific application will feed an Exchange 2007 user mailbox with those contacts and a blackberry smartphone will have an account on the BES server (4.1.6) for that user.
It is something a bit difficult to reproduce in a lab here so I googled many searches about that possibility, checked in KB from blackberry.com, etc. without any clear response. Is that possible to do? What are the risks associated with a such high number of synchronized contacts on the blackberry smartphone? Other concerns of any kind? Many thanks in advance. |
I don't see any real problem with it.
Might take a while for the initial sync to occur, but other than that it should be fine. We have a few users with address books in excess of 10,000 entires. I would try setting up one user and see what happens. If it's successful, start rolling it out to more users. |
I would think the major limitation would be device memory. Plus any corrupt or blank entries will foul up a sync in a heartbeat.

Any possible issues known about the server performances (slow sync for one or many users), blackberry services stability or anything else on the server?
