Which memory card to get?

I'm looking to get an 8GB card for my 9700 and have pretty much narrowed it down to Sandisk class 2 or Kingston class 4. After very little searching I have found both for $16.

Does anybody have any experience with either of these? Any lag with video?

Also, if anybody has anything good to say about another brand I'd be open to hearing it.

Thanks

Wirelessly posted

I have the sandisk. I have had it and using it for about a year now.

I've had my Kingston since I got the 8900. Both brands should be OK.

Both brand will give you about the same performance. The Read performance on pretty much all SD will be more than sufficient for an mobile device.

I use a 8GB SanDisk.

I use a 8GB SanDisk.

Definitely device and configuration dependent. I had a class 2 card in my 9000 with encryption enabled (by policy). It slowed down the device to the point it was nearly unusable.

Now I will ONLY buy class 6 microSD cards for use in an encrypted device.

the higher the class the better, that's for sure...i had them all, sandisk, lexar and kingston. My favorite is the kingston 16gb/class 10! awesome card. Lexar 8gb/class 4 was great too.
Sandisk warranty sucks in my opinion - proof of purchase. It is to my understanding, Kingston has less red tape on that issue if required...

Even more than that. I had to go out into bright sunlight and use the Super Macro mode on my camera to take a picture of the numbers on the card to PROVE it was not a gray market card. What a pain. Kingston for me from now on.

wow....that's a great idea, I was getting blind in reading off those tiny numbers! thanks for the tip :-)

For $16 does it matter. I'd go with the higher class. Both are good brands.

For me wifi transfers to a class II resulted in corrupted files. My admin suspected isolated hardware failure and replaced the card with a new one. Same problems.

The issue only went away with a same make class 4 card. It can now cope with the transfer speed.
