pearl not recharging - time for a new one?

In the last days my 3 year old Pearl will not recharge. It is not the battery(ies). When you plug it in (wall or computer) the lightning bolt does not appear and the battery does not recharge. The BB does not show up as an external drive either. It makes me think the plug in the body is done in (maybe a pin has come free). I searched the forum to see if it is a software issue-but no luck. This machine has worked flawless for 3 years and it travels the world with much use.
I am able to recharge the batteries using my 7100 and then swap but this is not a long live solution. Ideas short of a new unit are welcome.

A new unit is a problem as Rogers is not showing that they have the Pearl 2. I love the wide keys the 7100 and 8100 have and am hesitant to go to a bigger unit as the 7100 and 8100 are great for tossing in a pocket. Easy fix- go buy another 9100. Down side- I use the camera all the time and a higher quality camera and ability to hold a larger SD card is desired as I watch movies on the unit when I travel.

ideas?

Wirelessly posted

Sounds like USB broke.

Is the 9700 an option for you? It's not as small as 8100, but it is relatively small, and has a good camera. It's a sweet blackberry.

The 9700 larger screen is interesting. I went to the 8100 as the existing BBs were far to large for me. I need to get over the concept I have multiple batteries, including the double ones for the 8100 and the chargers for the 7100 are the same for 8100. I bought adapter cables for my wife and her Curve so she could use the old cables and also that portable hard drives use the same cable. Thatis one thing about a new one--- more wires to carry.

USB-- sounds right to me.
thanks
