Does BES 10.x rely on RIM Servers?
I have to admit I've never really looked at a flow diagram of how data moves between our email and our BB's. I've been running a very small BES 4.1.4 environment for several years and will be moving to BES10 at some point.
Does the BES10 service rely on any back-end component from Blackberry? I ask because with all the recent news of BB as a company I would like to know that if I purchase their products (phones & BES) that if they were to change directions suddenly that they would have no affect on my operations. If my data traverses their servers then I would at least like to know. Thanks. Roveer |
Re: Does BES 10.x rely on RIM Servers?
BES still needs port 3101 access to RIM in order to run just like BES 4 and 5, but the EAS data does not have to go through BlackBerry NOC. it can be direct to mail server.

there should not be any change to operations for some time, too many rely on them at the moment
