Invalid Connection String- Tunnel Failed

For the last two months, my Ramble and Verichat and BBToday programs worked flawlessly.

As of Friday, I cannot get them to open.

I have a Cingular and yes they are configured to the TCP as listed in the forums here --
APN: wap.cingular
Username: wap.cingulargprs.com
password: CINGULAR1

I am at a loss. Suggestions would be welcomed
Thanks

The user name must be caps.

And it's [email address]

Is it?

scotsil27 05-30-2006 02:01 AM

Yes it is.. Excuse me. I forgot to cap it when I was typing in the message.

Still not working.

Luke, please help me!

If your settings are all correct you'll have to call Cingular data support.

Same problem here

I have the same problem with my 8700g. Any help would be appreciated.

Have you looked at your TCP settings?

If not, see this thread:

pkaravites 05-30-2006 01:01 PM

did all that

Yes i tried that last week but still get the "tunnel failed " message. I called Cingular but they do not have a clue. Thanks for trying to help us

I get this error often too and i've got my TCP settings correct for the 8700g. Usually, when I turn off the power then turn it on, that does the trick. Kind of annoying to have to do it several times a day, but it seems to get it working.

We shd not have to turn the phone and off to get this working. I am really annoyed about this. I am going to go to Cingular, unless someone has a better idea.

Suggestions welcomed.

Thanks for the power off tip. It's a shame that we have to resort to this method to get it working.

No prob. I agree though, i wish i could stay connected with Ramble. If only there was a free AIM program as good as the Yahoo Instant Messenger for the bb.

PEOPLE-

I went to Cingular and got my problem resolved! Apparently, you need to have a line item added to your features on your plan. The rep wouldnt elaborate but once he added this feature, my phone and IM programs were back working flawlessly.

So if you have the failed - tunnel error, and it is not a application problem, I would suggest going to your cingular store, and asking to have the wireless magic feature added... it worked for me!

lgreenberg 05-31-2006 12:57 PM

I hope it wasn't the WIX INTERNET PAY PER USE line they added.

This solves the problem but results in additional charges to your bill.

scotsil27 05-31-2006 02:10 PM

They may have added that

I checked it online and there were no extra charges.... and the rep assured me that I would not have ANY extra charges.

Do you think I should double check again? Or can I rest assured?

lgreenberg 05-31-2006 03:06 PM

Unfortunately I don't think you can ever "rest assured" with Cingular.

pkaravites 06-01-2006 12:52 PM

what did you change?

I was also and still having tunnel issues. what exactly did you get changed by Cingular on your plan so I can give them a call. Thanks

BlueBerry112 06-13-2006 07:20 PM

I am having that same issue. It started today after I had a CS rep put my account in for the $29 BIS plan. I hate to call back for fear that they will add the additional data plan. If someone has a fix, post it please!

BlueBerry112 06-13-2006 08:38 PM

Ok, now I am starting to get annoyed. I double checked my TCP settings and tried to launch Ramble. Now i am getting a new error message that says "Invalid Connection String: Malformed Address. Returning null connection." I know that if I call CS, they are going to try and add the additional internet plan to my account. Has anyone seen this error?

BlueBerry112 06-14-2006 01:25 AM

Just in case anyone else experiences this after CS makes changes to your account; I did a live chat with the BlackBerry support team with Cingular and the tech said that he had to reinitialize my account because it was not provisioning for WAP correctly. Hopefully I won't see any new charges on my account. I will keep a close eye on it anyway.
