Default US cusstoms being sued for searching Blackberrys, laptops etc. - 02-11-2008, 02:05 PM

Suit: Airport searches of laptops, other devices intrusive - CNN.com

I am glad someone is stepping up to the plate here and sewing US customs. They have no business going through peoples laptops, blackberry's etc. Besides what can you smuggle through customs data wise that you can't encrypt or email over the Internet which does not go through customs.

When I came back from Asia Nov 06 I was very irritated with customs at SFO. They went through all the photos in my digital camera. They took my little thumb drive in the back for 10 minutes but there was nothing on it. I know they have to search for drugs or cotraban and thats fine but not your 1s and 0s lol. I had nothing to hide but sometimes people have intimate or confidental information related to their company etc.

I agree, but since 911, it seems that most of our rights are out the window...I dont have anything to hide either, but because of all the added security and the time it takes to get thru the lines, I have pretty much cut my travelling via plane in half
