Default Sprint Sucks! - 02-21-2008, 07:18 AM

My blackberry 8130 only after 5 weeks had stopped working. I brought it to a Sprint service center on Sunday and they said I had a bad phone and would have a replacement shipped to me by Wednesday. Not so bad but still not thrilled. I get my new 8130 yesterday and call Sprint to activate it and they can't access my account due to account maintenance and won't be able to activate it until Friday. ARE YOU F%#@*n KIDDING ME! I'll be without my phone for a whole week. Is that stupid or what? Here's the kicker. For our inconvenience, they are throwing in a free f%#@*n ringtone! Woohoo woopedy f%#@*n doo!

Lately, Sprints' service is terrible at best. When I bought my 8130, I used my debit card to purchase it. I then get my bill and am being charged for the phone. I called and they said that the sales rep must not have put the order through properly. Two days later my service is shut off. My wife calls and said we owed them money. She opened up the bill and looked at our online checking and it showed that we made our payment of what was due. They apparently didn't show it in their systems but appologized and turned it back on.

I will be taking my business to Verizon. I've been a Sprint customer for 9 years and can't take it any more.

Wirelessly posted (BlackBerry8800/4.2.1 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/100)

Well after 9 years you have learned what many already know!

Really sux that this happened going a week without my BB, I shudder at the thought. Fortunately I have a backup BB and all I have to do is swap the SIM card.

I feel your pain

This is a very unfortunate incident BUT I switched from Sprint 3 years ago for poor customer service. It seems I wasn't just ranting because there appears to be a pattern with their customer service. I forsee them going out of business or losing more business in the future. If they want to be a front runner to the mobile industry things need to change.

Same reason why years ago I left Verizon. Basically I was without a phone for quite a while. Now, if I have any problems, I swap my SIM and am back in business in minutes.

Hey Dawg,

Just checking -- let's say I had a small, thin device that I wanted to carry on the weekend that would let me get calls but limited web support (say a small flip phone) and my standard BB, are you saying that Verizon web support would let me swap back and forth -- keeping the same dominant phone number -- without any real issues? If so, I personally would find that quite attractive.

I switched from Sprint years ago because of their crappy half-a$$ed excuse for customer service. I would call up because of a problem and finally get someone on the phone after waiting for what felt like forever. I've been in customer service jobs before in my life so I know what it feels like to have people take their frustrations out on you so I always spoke to them the way I would want to be spoken to. More times than I can count I got attitude from their reps and when I would call them on it (i.e. "I'm not being nasty to you, why do you feel the need to be to me?") I would get hung up on! And this was every darned time I called! I would immediately call back and speak to a supervisor mad as heck and only then would someone be nice and get the problem sorted out fast. Stupid service.

Yeah, you can log into the my account page. And somewhere after you click on your phone, you can change ESN numbers easily.
It will give you an error if either phone is powered on when you do it though.

Other than that, take out the battery of the one you wanna switch to, put in the esn #, I always say "other" when it asks why I'm doing this and wallah!

Not with the Blackberry, that is only because of the data plan I am sure. But I swap my familys phones around quite often when Mom upgrades she passes hers along so everyone keeps a newer phone.

But they charge you 20 bucks if you call in to do it.

That's what I love about AT&T - just pull the sim card out of one phone and pop it in another. No need to call or log on anywhere.

The BB data plan won't carry over, but all other phone services do.

I was concerned about issues relating to the BB data plan. Thanks for the information.

With a BB data plan, I don't think you can get data (web access) with *any* non-BB device unless you have a separate media plan with your carrier.
