| Battery cover falling off.. *grumble* Please Login to Remove! So, my cat stepped on my phone, and the back cover fell off... So I tested it, and yeah, it just came off without having to push the button..
Drive CLEAR downtown, to the corporate cool store... "Oh, we have no other red pearls in exchange.."
Today, I finally get a new back... now it STILL falls off, just not as easily...
I hate sending in phones, or getting phones sent to me, but guess what I have to do?!
Stupid red pearl. Shoulda gotten the white one!
Lesson to all: Don't let your cat step on your phone. And NO she isn't fat! | | Offline

| Your cat didn't do it. It's been a problem since the first Pearl came out. I suggest a skin or hardcase to protect the whole thing and then the battery cover isn't an issue at all. | | Offline

| Yea, my wife's Pearl battery cover door is loose also, and got a $5 rubber skin and she's never noticed the problem again, and the skin keep the device safer anyway.
Good luck. | | Offline

| Lol, I have a gel skin, 2 clip on cases, and a bodyglove one... and I do keep them on there 95% of the time..
It's just one of those, I'm buying a now $300 phone, the back shouldn't fall off :P
I heard not ALL pearls do this though, is that true, or is this really as good as it's gonna get as far as falling off? | | Offline

| You are right, for a device that costs this much you deserve better. I decided it was not big deal, it was not falling off loose, just "loose" and a skin would do more than I could returning it. | | Offline

| Well, it doesn't just FALL off, but if i touch it at all in the wrong way, it comes off... that's a little better explanation of it I guess... Like, if I put on a clipy case, if I take it off a certain way, the door comes off with it
I'm waiting till tomorrow to call customer care and get a new phone sent, it's worth a shot at seeing if a different phone fixes the problem. Luckily tmobile is way nice about the whole thing, and let me get a different battery door in the first place off a returned phone
It's not really a HUGE deal, it's just annoying to know that if my little 6lb cat steps on my phone while its on my bed, it comes off :P | | Offline

| Well, we had to test everything, so the first (easier) test was to see if it was the door. You are right though. The little latch on the phone itself doesn't raise up enough, it's flush with the surrounding area of it pretty much. It's not broken off or anything, it's just not very tall :P
Changing the door helped a little, because on the other one, the little black protruding part was smaller than it is on this one..
*shrugs* I can't decide what to do really, if nothing else it's worth a shot to have another one sent right? | | Offline

| Like I have the ability to do that on my own! Lol I'd break something serious!
I don't think I'd get the $30 anywhere either hehe!
And to add to my frustration, I decided, winamp remote seems cool...
Either it's not working, or it's been loading for a half hour now..
Come on little pearl.. why do you do this to me?!
*edit*
I'm blaming my pearl also for making the weather outside go from 55 degrees to snowing, in about 10min...
Freaking pearl messing with the weather..

| When I went to the coheed concert...
I actually met a kid with a black 8100.. and he had me take a picture of him and the singer for him, since he knew I also had a pearl..
the back to his phone literally FELL OFF if you didn't hold onto it..
I learned at that moment, my problem wasn't so bad :P
And yeah, the front falling off would be worse...
But it wouldn't affect the environment if I remember right, because it was in a different environment :P

| The friend rant Ok, lol I just have to tell this story again. I should get this tread renamed to "the many rants of mizditz" but thats ok
So, about 2 weeks ago, I was texting my friend and she was like: "I'm sick of this phone" blah blah blah. Come to find out in the THREE weeks of having a razr2, she had replaced it 7 times, and had JUST received that 8th phone and was already having problems.
*At this point I pause to say it's OBVIOUS she's doing something here*
She gets all mad, and I was like, "Well, lets go down to the corporate store, and we'll see about getting you a completely new phone." We couldn't go to the store right by us because they were also the ones that told me that ALL blackberrys have the back battery cover that fall off.
We get there, end up talking to the "managers managers manager" So what's that? District manager? Anyway, she was like, yeah pick out a phone, we'll swap it, because that's quite an issue.
My friend decides on the Pearl. Ok. Here's where I started getting nervous. She was THAT bad with a razr2, she doesn't put insurance on her phones, she's had 3 stolen, and quite frankly, smart phones are too smart for her. I kind of bit my tongue as much as possible, so she got the Pearl.
Come to find out the Pearl is $100 less than the razr2 right now (go figure) so she gets $100 in accessories. *which was cool because I got a gelskin out of the deal*
I deal with her non-stop "how do I do this" texts for the better part of 3 days. Most could have been answered with the CD, but I guess reading doesn't happen these days anymore. One day I get a text "how do I get my trackball to light up" So I told her to download colorpearl, because it's free. I also told her at this time that ColorPearl SUCKED battery life (which it does right?)
A week later, "I hate this phone the battery dies too fast" So I text back "You are too hard on phones" I at the time had totally forgotten about ColorPearl, but I guess that shouldn't matter. Even when I DO have ColorPearl running, I can still go more than 8hrs without having to charge. But she swears up and down that ALL she does on the phone is text. Two days later I remember about ColorPearl, and tell her. So far she has shut up about it again.
Really, I think people should have to have licenses to carry smartphones. It's ridiculous. Then I read that whole article about Britain putting padding around their light poles because people ran into them while texting...
Seriously, we need to have tests to allow people cellphones these days!!

| Yeah, that's where I got stumped. I told her that too, to make sure all her apps were getting closed, not just hidden..
And she was like, "I don't do anything on the phone, so there shouldn't be anything there"
I told her to go into menu - show all and close stuff out the day she got the phone..
I'm waiting for the text that says "MY TEXTS KEEP GETTING DELETED!"
lol...
It's kind of one of those, "I don't do it, so I shouldn't have to check it" things with her...
The people at T-Mobile and I both came up with the same answer when her razr was dying after 5 hours..
She's doing something on it she's not telling anyone about. Like phone calls, they suck battery power... but she says she never talks to anyone (Which I know is a lie, I was with her the day she got the phone, and she was on it 3 or 4 times in a call)
I more or less just gave up... When she kept talking about the battery dying, I told her to go get a different phone then if it wasn't what she wanted.. I'm mean, I know, but you get to a point where you don't wanna hear it any more
