More of a rant. But from looking at the 9000 bb browser, that it loads full pages etc. Is wap gonna die. I personally prefer wap. Just for the sheer fact of 20 times less adds. We have the ipgone web browser rending full pages etc. Are smart phones slowly phasing out wap? I hope not. I personally think wap is awesome gets rid of the junk that most people really don't care for. Or how polluted web sites have gotten.

i doubt it, not for a while anyway. most cell phone users aren't smart phone users, so i think wap will still be an option for us.

When you turn on your phone, does it return the favor? Welcome to BlackBerry!

I would have to agree. Until at least the majority of all cell phones have full HTML browsers, I don't see wap going anywhere.

I beg to differ. I prefer the wap but I know many would prefer the opera mini if did what the bb browser does.

Wabbit I was wondering this very same thing!

On my BB I absolutely prefer wap easier for me to find what I want!

I use my computer for full pages and graphics.

I hope wap doesn't go away time will tell if it does it will be awhile before that happens though

I think in many categories (news and blogs, for example) there will continue to be 'mobile' or 'pda' versions of the full web site. Maybe not wap, exactly, but at least reformated and such for mobile devices.

In the above sense, I also prefer the mobile version of most of the sites I frequent just because of the uncluttered appearance. The one thing I miss is the ability to view videos on the news websites, which I can't do on cnn and abc only because I'm using an old model blackberry. But that is only right now, without benefit of the next generation blackberry browser.

I believe we blackberry users will start going to the full versions of websites more and more once we have the next generation browser (unless those websites forcibly redirect to mobile, of course). It will be case by case for me.

Well I'm just going by trends and what most sites profit off. Most sites its adds and a lot of clutter before you get your content. With wap it more content then anything else. As networks get faster more junk on sites. I think broadband proved this from days of dial up. Now the win mobile 6.1 suppose to enhance web sites. The iphone and the 4.6 os on the 9000 + other upcoming 08, 09 devices. To me it seems like the trends gonna be more towards desktop views on mobile phones. Its nice and all but 95 of site I stay off just for the reason. Wap to me is very convenient and to the point. Its like getting phased out before it takes off.
